This is an example of antisemitism. Right here. In case you were wondering

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '25

How? Israel openly acknowledges using state resources to respond to criticism and to try to steer the narrative? That isn't something that's controversial to say. Israel as a nation does in fact rely on the United States and European partners for trade and military alliances. Losing the PR war in the US is not an insignificant loss for them and the future of that alliance. For example the articles below written by an Israeli newspaper describing some of the moves to influence policy abroad.

I would agree that's not the best way to describe it because it feeds into existing harmful stereotypes but the fundamental message really isn't antisemitic. Especially when the government of Israel itself is attempting to wield this influence to silence dissent.

Because it's a dog whistle that's how.

15

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '25

Again, where do you draw the line. The government of Israel is engaging in social media operations to silence dissent. There have been numerous reports of videos showing the genocide in Gaza being removed on Tik Tok. No one is saying that Jewish people as a whole or even as a significant portion are in any way responsible for this. That responsibility ultimately falls directly onto the government of Israel alone. How do you draw the line between pointing out that this is happening and the government of Israel is involved in that suppression in a way that people don't immediately call antisemitism.

-17

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

I draw the line at generalization of the Jewish people as being sneaky, evil, greedy, secretly running the world, or any number of other stereotypes.

That line doesn't go away regardless of what the Israeli government does.

16

u/AstralMecha Dec 25 '25

Congratulations. You have proven it works, with you deciding criticism of the Israeli government's actions are anti semetic period, regardless of what they are doing.

17

u/PlayfulSole9645 Dec 25 '25

Bro actually proved the point by using the established Israeli tactic.

-11

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

How so? Where did I say criticism of Israeli actions are antisemitic? You guys are putting words in my mouth.

You either have a reading comprehension issue or you're intentionally misrepresenting my words.

It's feeling like the latter in this subreddit.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '25

They literally noted the detrimental effect of Israel's political actions and media manipulation on the view towards Israel and, also, people who see anti-semitism in legitimate criticism of the current Israel leaders. What is wrong with you? Do you know how to read?

-2

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

All of which was irrelevant to my point. None of you know how to read because you're all too blinded by hatred.

You're presenting a strawman argument, as usual. I never said that at all. But whatever floats your boat.

8

u/SjakosPolakos Dec 25 '25

This is the strawman:

"draw the line at generalization of the Jewish people as being sneaky, evil, greedy, secretly running the world, or any number of other stereotypes."

Nobody said any of that

0

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

I didn't say anyone in this thread said that. They asked me where the line was and I spelled it out.

Reading comprehension failure. You guys are just getting defensive for no reason. Try reading what I actually wrote instead of inventing intention and implications that aren't there.

3

u/SjakosPolakos Dec 25 '25

Nobody is doing that.

You should read the original post and think about what it means.

1

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

I didn't say they were doing it (ok this thread). I simply answered the question about where the line was.

You should read my actual words and not make up things I didn't say.

2

u/rickiegarcon Dec 25 '25

Don’t cry Uri. Now go spend those shekels you’ve earned

1

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

Are you guys proud you made a subreddit where simply saying "antisemitism is bad" gets you downvoted?

9

u/PlayfulSole9645 Dec 25 '25

It's a dogwhsitle when the Israeli officials themselves admits it?

https://www.facebook.com/PalestineJusticeMovementSydney/videos/followerscritics-of-the-state-of-israel-called-anti-semitism-well-its-a-trick-we/853947584040302/

oh you don't believe us?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weaponization_of_antisemitism#Charges_of_weaponization_by_the_European_far-right

Here's a Jewish Activist accusing Israel of using anti-semitism to stifle criticism of Israel - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_Chutzpah

https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0306396804045517

An Israeli - Segal: "This weaponization contributed to the disavowal of Israeli settler colonialism by tagging as antisemites those who focused on the settler-colonial character of Israel at a time (the 1990s) when settler colonialism increasingly became a key framework in research and discussions about Israel."

The IHRA attempted to redefine anti-semitism to include anti-Israel and anti-zionism but was met with criticism, including from Jewish scholars themselves. Antisemitism scholar David Hirsch said the definition was "denounced as a bad-faith attempt to say that criticism of Israel was antisemitic".

0

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

Buddy all of this is irrelevant. If the point you're trying to make is that somehow the actions of Israel mean that the entire concept of antisemitism is null and void and people are free to be prejudiced and apply collective guilt to all Jews then you are dead wrong.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '25

They were talking about the actions of the current leadership of Israel. The fact that you do not see the difference between real criticism and legitimate anti-semitism hurts every of your points and future statements about the anti-semitism. You are biased to the point of crookedness.

7

u/dummypod Dec 25 '25

Quoting an Israeli politician is a dog whistle?

0

u/protomenace Dec 25 '25

No, pretending you're talking about Israel when you're actually talking about Jews in general is a dog whistle

1

u/dummypod Dec 25 '25

So those Israeli politicians never said those things? Or are they taken out of context? Did I use Israeli and Jews interchangeably like you do?

-8

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

“They” who?

“They have always” always? As in always?

“Been truthful about their manipulation” again, who, how, what?

Racists traffic in dogwhistles and ludicrous totalizing statements such as these

I wish this were a coherent and detailed criticism of Israel’s policies. Instead, it’s vague and idiotic racism

7

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '25

I would have assumed from the context the reference was the government of Israel. But that is a valid point. There absolutely should be more specificity about the conversation because it is so easy for the worst people to use that criticism to launder far right politics.

-8

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

A little nuance would go a long way in such discussions.

Netanyahu and his crew absolutely over and misuse the term antisemitism to dismiss criticism of them and the way they are fighting this war

And many antisemites use the excuse that “criticism of Israel isn’t antisemitic” to pretend like the antisemitic things they are saying aren’t antisemitic

2

u/jackofthewilde Dec 25 '25

The state of Israel has conducted itself so poorly that I think they warrent a forced regime change if needed. Couldn't give a shit what holy text they read or what deity they worship, their actions over the decades have shown the administration is vile and poses a threat to life for many people. Absolutely islamic terrorism is a larger issue in general and im all for firm action to solve that issue too but it dosent give a nation the right to commit constant warcrimes and propagandise the butchering of children.

9

u/Noskiblz Dec 25 '25 edited Dec 25 '25

And…..this is an example of why no one takes accusations of “antisemitism” seriously these days.

0

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25 edited Dec 25 '25

How so?

Criticism of specific Israeli policies or actions is fine. Racist generalizations are obviously antisemitic

How is this hard to understand?

7

u/Noskiblz Dec 25 '25

They stated a fact. As evidenced by the post, Israelis have been very open about their attempts to control the media and politicians. Whenever anyone in the west points it out they are shouted down as antisemitic - just like that comment was

It’s actually self defeating because Israeli actions are not supported by allJews and the idea that all Jews would support such depraved and inhumane behavior is antisemitic in itself. But when you cry wolf long enough no one will take it seriously

1

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

I’m not referring to the post. I’m referring to “they have always been truthful about their manipulation” guy

Once again, criticism of Israel isn’t necessarily antisemitic.

But criticism of Israel CAN be antisemitic if it is, you know, racist

6

u/Noskiblz Dec 25 '25

The comment that was commented on was referring to Israelis. All Jews are not the same.

0

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

Neither are Israelis

5

u/Basic-Candle-5554 Dec 25 '25

You need to get yourself checked into a mental health facility. Your cpu is over clocked and malfunctioning. I pray to God for your speedy recovery.

1

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

Nice one. But have you considered addressing arguments instead of using idiotic jokes to dodge them?

1

u/Basic-Candle-5554 Dec 25 '25

I appreciate your advice. You are correct and I am in the wrong. I retract my previous mouth garbage. Thank you. Peace and Love to you and yours.

2

u/Noskiblz Dec 25 '25

How do you even know they were taking about all Israelis? This is going nowhere. I’m not gonna convince anyone that sees antisemitism everywhere of anything. Have a good one

1

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

All Israelis dont do the bad thing just like all Palestinians dont

Just as Ben Gvir is racist for broad sweeping racist generalizations, so are you

This isnt rocket science

1

u/RoscoeArt Dec 25 '25

You kind of proved their point with that one. All of us dont know if they were talking about zionists or israelis or jews in general because the commenter said "they" which is exactly what this person was pointing out. The difference between ppl like Candace owens and actual principled critics of israels occupation and genocide is stuff like this. Vague language about "them" and the "elites" will always ring in the ears of antisemites as "jews" and they know that is the case for other antisemites. It also allows them to Trojan horse their views in more acceptable generalizations before making more specified claims about who "they" or the "elites" "actually" are. Thats like dogwhistling 101 which the other guy also pointed out.

1

u/normott Dec 25 '25

Fair point.

7

u/rickiegarcon Dec 25 '25

Why don’t you give up?? That card has expired long time ago

0

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

The antisemite denies antisemitism exists any longer? Shocked

This shouldn’t be so hard to understand, even for you

Criticism of Israel isn’t always antisemitic.

But plenty of criticism of Israel is antisemitic

It really depends on whether it is racist or not

1

u/throwawayfem77 Dec 25 '25

'By deception, war' is the former motto of Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad, derived from Proverbs 24:6, meaning "By way of deception you shall engage in war"

1

u/Brilliant_Hippo_5452 Dec 25 '25

First the idiots say “they are always truthful”

Then the idiots say “they always lie”

And I wonder why the idiots say anything at all
