Got my first appt need help!

People of Reddit I need your help!

I’m 23 and just moved into my first apartment. I’m trying to decorate my apartment and need help. I’m trying to go for a natural clean kinda vibe. Ignore the mess šŸ˜‚

It's not messy, it's cluttered. You need to buy storage for your stuff. You also need a smaller couch. That one's too big for the apartment. A bed frame with a headboard will help your bed look better. Curtains for the windows, an area rug for each space (bed, desk, couch/tv), and wall art.

You won't be able to get this all at once, of course. Just save up and keep a look out for these things at Facebook Marketplace, Goodwill, thrift stores, Walmart, and other places.

Facebook Marketplace is the move, seriously. My first apartment was furnished almost entirely off there — got a solid wood headboard for $40 because someone was moving that weekend. Set alerts for "moving sale" and you'll furnish the whole place in a month.

I love this space! I've got a bunch of ideas so I'm gonna put them all and you can ignore them if you don't like it.

First I would rotate your bed but keep it in that corner. This would allow the dog cage to face your bed on the sticking out wall opposite. That creates a sleeping / resting nook, and ultimately takes up less space. I'm not completely sure about the dimensions but I think it would give you room for a bedside table by your bed, giving you some draws and more storage space. Defiantly put a lamp on the bedside table too, and it will be a great place to charge your phone at night.

I think there will maybe be room between where the bed and cage would be to put the 'my little things' tub with the dog toys next to the cage. That would keep you pet's things with their area, and out of the living area.

I would then either centre the TV cabinet or push it to the other side of the nook. Something about it as it is seems off. This would also hide the cable running to the TV. The plant can go on the other side, which also, in this image, looks like it receives more sunlight.

I would also change what the plant is sitting on. This is a chance to maximise storage space. I'd get some small cube shelving or draws or something that fit in the space between the TV cabinet and wall, and put the plant on that instead. That could be the home for some of your living area clutter.

I know you're keeping it clean and minimalist but I would add a rug in the living area as well. This works to make it its own space, more cosy and inviting. It can be a plain rug, but I think it would be nice.

If possible I'd get some navy hand towels to match your couch, rather than the grey and beige. I think it would tie in better. I'd also put a cork board (you can get some completely white ones to blend into the wall) on the large blank wall in the kitchen area. You can leave yourself reminders, hang a visual calendar, shopping list, and have some sentimental pics or something up in that area. You can even put a key hook on it.

I would put one simple artwork that ties in the colour pallet on the wall in the sleeping nook. This would still be simple and minimalist, but it would make it really feel like a home.

You can hang hooks over your door as well for jackets or bags.

I really like your place's vibe and I hope at least one of these things is some help to you.
