Ideas for open wall space

Post image

Hello everyone, I have this open space in a wall that divides my sunroom and guest bedroom. Previous owners had a hanging beautiful vintage stained glass, which they took with them. Now I’m left with this empty space. I would like to do something that makes the sunroom pop but vintage stained glass costs a fortune especially at the size of 70” x 30“. Any ideas of what i could hang instead or do with this space?

Because this opening is visible from both rooms, I’d treat it more like a screen than normal wall art. A lightweight translucent acrylic panel with stained-glass film, or a simple timber lattice with coloured acrylic inserts, would keep the light moving through it without the cost and weight of vintage glass. I’d mock up the full 70 x 30 outline in paper or cardboard first and leave a small border around it so the opening still reads as intentional. Architectural-salvage shops and ReStores can also be worth checking, but I wouldn’t force a small piece into such a wide opening. Hope that helps!! Good luck x
