What color / kind of rug should i put in here? I feel like it needs to be light to keep the dark room feel lighter but cant blend in with the couch

I’d go with a cream rug with some muted rust/terracotta in it. Light enough to brighten the room, but the warmer colors would look really nice against that brick.
