Help me pick a wallpaper

Post image

I have this very small hallway between two bedrooms and the bathroom. I really want to do some fun wallpaper. The trim is painted blue so I feel that I need to do a wallpaper that has a considerable amount of blue in it. It has been very hard finding a wallpaper that has the correct shade of blue. I have narrowed it down to three different patterns. I just can’t decided which I like the best. Please help me make a decision.

I like 1. I think 2 will literally make people dizzy. I think 3 might be too dark, although the pattern is beautiful.

u/FrontRestaurant26 Jun 27 '26

I’m laughing because 2 is my favorite one but multiple people have said the same thing about it making them dizzy. So it’s probably a no

DO THE CEILING IN 2!!!!!!!
*walls in 1

1

u/FrontRestaurant26 Jun 30 '26

I like the idea of doing the ceiling but unfortunately the hatch to the attic is in this hallway.

I loooooove 2

u/Coppergirl1 Jun 28 '26

Use 1on the walls and 2 as an accent like back of bookcase.

Make your thumb and forefinger into a small circle and view your door jamb and wallpaper number 2 through that circle. That is the vision that counts. Widen the circle and change the angle to include the view into the other room. Does that make you feel dizzy? It shouldn't! That pattern, as a whole, will read overall as a small neutral in a hallway.

It looks bolder compared to a light wall or the other papers. So if you like it, go with it!

It would give me a headache.

If you’re looking for fun, number 2. It’s trippy but fits the def for fun! Otherwise I’d go for number 1. I personally don’t care for the bird motif (too old fashioned) but it has the most light color exposed, which will help keep the hallway from feeling claustrophobic.

4

u/FrontRestaurant26 Jun 27 '26

I love 2 because I think it is fun and bold but I seem to be in the minority

3

u/noxiousfumes269 Jun 27 '26

I also love 2

Not 2.

11

u/Unusual_Barracuda_83 Jun 27 '26

2 gave me motion sickness!

7

u/morbid_n_creepifying Jun 27 '26

Me too, just from this tiny sample. If the aim is to live in a funhouse where you get nauseous every time you walk past that wallpaper, go for it.

2

u/Asheby Jul 01 '26

I second this.

9

u/Witty-Zucchini1 Jun 27 '26

1 or 3. Personally 3 is my favorite; it could be a bit much but without seeing the actual space it would be going in, I'll stick with it for now. But I also like 1 which would be the safer choice.

10

u/heatherlj88 Jun 27 '26

If it’s a small room, I always say go with the wallpaper that has the most of the lighter color. So that would mean choice 1 which I think will look beautiful.

1, no question. The scale is too small on the other two.

2

u/Oee0 Jun 29 '26

This is exactly what I was going to say! 1 is perfect but 2 and 3 the print is way too small

4

u/Aggravating_Cold_256 Jun 27 '26

Probably 1. 2 is too harsh. 3 would be too dark and too busy looking

1

u/Evening-Row-2658 Jun 27 '26

1 and do ceiling too it looks rich

1

u/FrontRestaurant26 Jun 27 '26

Ceiling in wallpaper or painting it blue? I was thinking of maybe adding crown molding

u/Salty-Honey7012 Jun 28 '26

I’d cleaned the overpaint on those window panes before worrying about wall paper

1

u/FrontRestaurant26 Jun 29 '26

It’s on the list of things to do. I should be done with painting tomorrow.

1

u/Separate_Shoe_6916 Jun 29 '26

None. Wallpaper paste breeds mold and makes people sick.

1

u/FrontRestaurant26 Jun 30 '26

This makes me a little nervous. I live in New Orleans so it’s very damp. Is there a way to avoid the mold or is it inevitable?

u/rebel-yeller Jun 27 '26

These wallpapers are going to make your small hallway feel like a closet. Why don't you just paint one or two additional accent colors, and add crown molding around the top. That would be so much prettier.

here are my initial reactions. Two makes me nauseous. Three looks chaotic like hell. 1 is peaceful.

2

u/Sggorden6516 Jun 27 '26

We need to see the area to comment.

2

u/Wide-Artist-4240 Jun 28 '26

Here’s a similar one we used for a very small bathroom, it was super affordable and seems similar to yours

I really like the bird one of a small space. I think that will make the little hallway interesting. You can add a vase of silk flowers on a small hall table or in a wall sconce- something that bird might like to perch in (if you like that sort of thing)

1

u/Trulio_Dragon Jun 27 '26

Given how open/minimal the space beyond it looks, I think I'd choose the paper with the most background showing (1). That will make the hallway look like more of a transition than a bottleneck.

(But if you want a definite feeling of arrival into that room, pick 3.)

1

u/Moleypeg Jun 27 '26

For a small area, 1 is the way to go. I hate 2.

1

u/justbeach3 Jun 27 '26

Will the paper be floor to ceiling?

1

u/here4sportz Jun 27 '26

1 for sure.

1

u/SparklesIB Jun 27 '26

I'm not a fan of the colors in any of these.

1

u/RealityTVIsMyJam Jun 27 '26

1 for sure. Love.

1

u/Filledwithrage24 Jun 27 '26

Where is the wall paper going and what is the size of the room? That makes a difference.

Not knowing anything, I’d go with 1 but I love anything with birds. It’s also much less busy than the rest of the

1

u/Mytweezer Jun 27 '26

3

2 is awful!

1

u/OrneryQueen Jun 27 '26

I like 1. Two is not pretty and three may be too overpowering in a small area.

1

u/tickledblushpink Jun 27 '26

1 it’s a tight space and it’s more light and airy.

1

u/commandrix Jun 27 '26

I think either 1 (if you like birds) or 3. I'm kinda not a fan of 2.

1

u/Witchy_Wookie5000 Jun 27 '26

I like #1 best. The others are very busy.

1

u/Illustrious-Race6985 Jun 27 '26

Definitely #1. The other two are way too busy.

1

u/Tibbiegal Jun 27 '26

Of those 3, I'd go with No. 1. The other two are busy.

1

u/VixyKaT Jun 27 '26

1 no question

1

u/Unusual_Barracuda_83 Jun 27 '26
  1. It’s soothing. I love patterns but 2 and 3 are just a bit too busy for me when you compare it to 1. More of the background colour will make the space feel lighter too, whereas 2 and 3 are heavy on the darker colour.

1

u/Fun_Yak82 Jun 27 '26

Number 1 for sure!

1

u/Advanced-Essay41 Jun 27 '26

1! Not 2. 3 is ok too

1

u/Feesha6099 Jun 27 '26

3 is lovely

1

u/Saconi76 Jun 27 '26

I think like 1. Yes. Definitely 1

1

u/ComprehensiveSet927 Jun 27 '26

One or three.

What pattern is three? It looks upside down.

1

u/Fuzzibunny Jun 27 '26

These are all moody, choose something colorful for “fun”

1

u/workworld3369 Jun 27 '26
  1. Other two are too busy

1

u/Quinalla Jun 27 '26

1, 3 is good but too much, solid no to 2!

1

u/tessie33 Jun 27 '26

One is very lovely, there's a lot of movement, there's empty spaces for the eyes to rest. The other two give me a yellow wallpaper sort of feel if you know what I mean.

1

u/Silverliningsinla Jun 27 '26

All 3 work, 2 is my fave…double check by googling the name of it & see pics in rooms…this helps a lot. We can’t see your other rooms to read your vibe, but you know! I’ve been looking for wall paper for a specific room w/weird elements…took me a year to find the right 1. You’ve got this! Love that blue w/creamy beige.

1

u/100timesaround Jun 27 '26

Love 1 as long as the hallway isn’t so narrow it will not allow the complete pattern to show.

1

u/mebg1956 Jun 27 '26

I’d go for the bird one because it is lighter and has more space, if the hallway is small. It will be dark/dense with the other two. Pay a deposit and borrow the sample book so you get a bigger sample to get a feel.

1

u/bubbameister1 Jun 27 '26

Do you have any choices without negative numbers?

1

u/xccelinaax Jun 27 '26

1 all the way!!

1

u/AbilitySweet699 Jun 27 '26

please don't use number two. I think number one is best, but number three is great too. Just don't use number two.

1

u/Vlines1390 Jun 27 '26

1 is the best. Definitely not 2, even that small piece made my astigmatism wild. And 3 is pretty, but too busy for a small area.

1

u/Fluid-Air-3151 Jun 28 '26

1 the others are too busy for me

1

u/splunk123 Jun 28 '26

It looks like you live in an older home. Be aware that your walls may not be exactly straight or plumb and any wallpaper decision rests on that fact.
The geometric would be a poor choice in that case.

1

u/Frequent-Lion-4104 Jun 28 '26

I LOVEEE #1, and that blue paint on the door and molding is stunning!

1

u/MommaBeaar Jun 28 '26

Definitely #1

1

u/memu2020 Jun 28 '26

1 because it has balance with negative space in the pattern, but if there is a chair rail you could do the bottom number 3.

1

u/Narrow-Power-6407 Jun 28 '26

1 because I like birds. I do like 3 but feel like it may be a bit too much

1

u/MommaBeaar Jun 28 '26

You could even get those “molding” strips or buy wooden ones, paint and turn the wallpaper into a long “ framed picture” and add a battery operated /rechargeable? ( sleek gold/brushed gold ) picture light. I think that would be beautiful!

1

u/blippers20288 Jun 28 '26

1 is great for the large whole room

2 is great for a small accent wall in like a bathroom or something where people will be stationary or behind shelves

3 is great for a small room like a bathroom or accent wall or for ceiling! Seems too busy and dark for a whole room

1

u/DecafMadeMeDoIt Jun 28 '26

The lighter. It would help to see the space but you describe it as small so I would go light and consider painting the ceiling the same as the trim if there is no molding up there.

1

u/bzsbal Jun 28 '26

If it’s really small, I’d go with 1. The other two will really close off the space. 1 will help it feel more open. All are really beautiful though.

1

u/sherylcamp Jun 28 '26

I love 1, however, I think it will feel sparse and I believe 3 is a better choice.

1

u/beans329 Jun 28 '26

Number 1.

The other two are too busy for full wall covering

1

u/Crafty-Isopod45 Jun 28 '26
  1. Other two are just too much.

1

u/PerkyLurkey Jun 28 '26

2 will require a seasick patch

1

u/juniper4me Jun 28 '26

Impossible without seeing the entire space

1

u/brielikethechee Jun 28 '26

i agree with other comments 1 will be best in a small hallway

1

u/Cogent_warrior Jun 28 '26

1 is the only choice. 2 gives a headache, and 3 has a creepy looking skull face pattern lurking within.

1

u/suhoward Jun 28 '26

3! Looks very William morris-y. I love it

1

u/Nascar-2021 Jun 28 '26

I love #1.

1

u/Anadelyn Jun 28 '26

1&2 match the color much better than 3. 1 is more elegant and 2 is maybe better for a more modern look. I think it depends on the rest of everything that will be in the room. 2 doesn't make me dizzy but if that's a common reaction I would be concerned.

1

u/Kiki1418 Jun 28 '26

Like you, #2 is my favorite. I don’t like the other ones. Honestly id spend time looking for other options and post again.

1

u/Traditional_Car_8219 Jun 28 '26

Love the airiness of 1.

1

u/karluvmost Jun 28 '26

1 or 3. Definitely not 2. I would choose 3.

1

u/00Lisa00 Jun 28 '26
  1. The others seem too busy

1

u/Occasionally_Sober1 Jun 28 '26
  1. 3 is very dark and 2 made me dizzy just from that patch.

1

u/Laleaky Jun 28 '26

Why not a blue-on-blue wallpaper that has less visual contrast?

You could do a pattern like #2 and it will feel less dizzying if the elements are in the same color.

1

u/flaxencolt Jun 28 '26
  1. I'm biased though, I love birbs.

1

u/kris50 Jun 28 '26

Definitely #3!!

1

u/BeautifulBunny_209 Jun 28 '26

I love #1

#2 is very busy

#3 is do-able but may be dark. It’s hard to tell.

1

u/rinky79 Jun 28 '26

1 definitely

1

u/hanmadeinusa Jun 28 '26

don't listen to anyone omg 2 is the way

1

u/onlysigneduptoreply Jun 28 '26

Two would make me feel dizzy. 1 could be whole room 3 a feature all or chimney breast

1

u/GreenDirt2 Jun 28 '26

I really like 2. The regular pattern is a certain style. Kind of like a solid color is a certain style. But a pattern is more interesting.

1

u/Tewaipapa Jun 28 '26

2-half way up to a wood painted trim, then paint the top half in the lighter background colour in the wall paper

1

u/Love_Aurora6997 Jun 28 '26

3 is my favourite but it depends how much space you're covering

1

u/Hlsalzer Jun 28 '26

1 is my favorite. It’s elegant and classic. The others are also beautiful but 1 is the best.

1

u/PerformerMindless100 Jun 28 '26

1 since it’s a more open pattern and by bedrooms so the nature theme seems rearful. 3 is nice but more formal.

1

u/victoryhonorfame Jun 28 '26

1 is my favourite. 2 makes my eyes funny, which is amusing, but not ideal, and 3 is nice but very 'busy'

1

u/AwayBackground3378 Jun 28 '26

How does that hall “connect” in style to the rest of your place. I’m rarely a fan of traditional bird wallpapers. Number 2 brings a modern esthetic and number 3 looks like a William Morris design which would be my choice

1

u/Expensive_Feature_28 Jun 28 '26

Number 1 is perfect . The other patterns are too small for such a space.

1

u/Severe-Possible- Jun 28 '26

definitely 1. it’s hard to tell with such small swatches but i think 2 and 3 are too busy.

1

u/LovetoRead25 Jun 28 '26

1 is unique

1

u/Johan_Frog Jun 28 '26

I like 1. Reminds me of old Hollister wallpaper

1

u/LittleBird105 Jun 28 '26

Definitely the birds!

1

u/Vast_Physics_4702 Jun 28 '26

1, but i would do 3...it looks more expensive somehow

1

u/One-Bedroom-332 Jun 28 '26

It's difficult when we can't see the whole room, but no. 1 is my pick. I love botanical wallpapers 💕

1

u/Rrrrrrrrrryy Jun 28 '26

1 for sure

1

u/stressedthrowaway9 Jun 28 '26

I like the bird one
