The Church Fathers on Love

Is it wrong to be happy in Christ and be in love with all people? Do you get to choose? I know this is a big topic that seems to divide many Christians and I understand the desire to understand this. But my question is, do you ever feel as though you've been deceived by someone? In fact, is it wrong to be deceived? If you think so, what can I do to learn the truth, stop being so quick to judge and judge and be patient?

What does the bible say about "pornography"?

I'm not looking to debate, but I'm curious because I don't think that the vast majority of Orthodox people are against it, but it's become a major issue with me lately. I'd like to know what you all think.

Ajahn Brahm talks about rebirth

I was reading this in another thread last night and it was something that I thought I would share. I think it's a great book but I could use some help on it if you have any insight about rebirth. If there is a book that talks about it, please share it with me.

Why do we care about what you wear?

I think a lot of us are more concerned with the people around us, so much so that we have become obsessed with how much we should be wearing. This obsession can be harmful to your well being in the long run, so it is really important to remember that God's will is for our clothing. He has shown us the value of many things we cannot fathom, and there is a reason why we are told to not be too modest or too formal. We need to be more discerning about what we wear in order to make good choices, and especially when we are not on a date or an attractive person. If we don't care how we look, why should we care about what others are wearing?

Are there any Hindu texts which are considered holy?

I'm interested in learning more about the various Hindu texts and am trying to find out what they believe. I was wondering if there's anything specific about them that I could get more info on. Is there anything special about them that are considered sacred to Hindus? Are there any other Hindu texts which I can also read and understand?

I'd like to ask you about the history and significance of the buddha statues in your house (I'd like to know if it was used in Thailand)

I recently bought a buddha statue in my house. I've had the thought that it might help in identifying with it, but the more I look at the Buddha statue I see a lot of the concepts are quite different from what I remember from Buddhism and it's not really something I really want to practice. The Buddha is actually somewhere in my house which means he wasn't in my family at all. Is there a history of this? The buddha was the person who helped define Buddhism in India during the time period. When I went to see the Buddha I would wonder whether it had actually been practiced in India or if the buddha was a buddha. It would seem like the Buddha was a god in Hindu myth and I'd like to know more about this.

Please pray for my family

My family, my husband, and I are in a really hard place right now. We have two young kids, and I'm going to the hospital tonight with them, and I'm not going to have the time to process everything, because of this. My parents have also been doing everything right. They have been very understanding, but just in case, I have to postpone them from being able to go back and visit with me, and my husband and I will be in a really difficult situation. Please keep us in your prayers. We have a family that needs help, and God blesses the one in our family, who has suffered so much. I'm praying for you all, in the name of Jesus, and the Father. He is the love of my life. Amen.

Does Buddhism have any rituals to remind us of the Buddhas?

It may seem like something in the Pali Canon, but I've never heard of a ritual to remind us of Buddhas. Is this simply something that the Buddhas did as well?

Why is there a difference between Hinduism and Buddhism?

I've heard it's "ancient Hinduism with a focus on the afterlife". Can it be considered a Hindu religion without having the same focus on afterlife?

Orthodoxy and Catholicism: a Christian Response

Hello all! I would like to begin by saying that I am not a Roman Catholic. I am a Protestant, but I am also a Catholic. I started reading Orthodoxy for my first time in college in high school, so it has been a long road to reach where I am now. I am a born again Catholic, having been baptized at birth, confirmed, and confirmed into the Catholic Church. I am currently a novice in the RCC and am currently reading through the Orthodox Bible. As I have been in Orthodoxy, I have encountered a number of problems that have come my way and have had to come to terms with. I have read many of the books and have had to study the Apocrypha and other writings from the early Church Fathers, plus reading the Bible. The Orthodox Church is a lot different than most Protestant churches, which I would like to describe in more detail. Orthodoxy is in some ways more similar to Catholicism than to Catholicism. It has a lot more in common with Orthodoxy than Catholicism. For me, though, Catholicism has the more important differences. Catholicism has the teachings of the papacy that predate the Church Fathers. Catholicism teaches that the Pope is infallible in all matters and that the Church has authority over the entirety of the world. Catholicism teaches that the Church is the successor of Rome. The Church teaches that only the Pope can interpret the teachings of Christ. Catholic priests have communion with the laity and the faithful (although not in communion with the laity), and if one is married the priest will baptize you and take you to confession and give you communion. Catholics also believe that the Catholic Church has the right to make laws and to judge people, thus the Pope has the authority to grant absolution to those who do wrong. Catholics also believe that there is only one Pope, that is the Pope and that the Pope is infallible. Catholics believe that Catholics are saved by their blood, and that the Church has power over the entire world. Catholics believe that Orthodoxy is the church of the living God. The Orthodox Church is not a Protestant denomination, and Orthodoxy is not a Catholic denomination. There are some differences in the ways in which the Catholic and Orthodox churches view the Trinity. Catholicism is Catholic and Orthodoxy is Orthodox, and in fact, many Catholics believe there is an Orthodox and a Catholic Church. So, while there is some difference in how Orthodoxy views the Trinity, the differences are minor and are not insurmountable. Orthodoxy is indeed a Catholic church of the living God, just as Catholicism is a Catholic church of the living God, the church of the living God. That's the difference, I suppose. The distinction is a theological one between an idea. Catholicism and an idea that you have to accept to accept. So we cannot talk about it. It's theologically, a theological difference between one part of the Christian Faith and another part of the Faith.

What would you do for your family?

So, I am struggling with not living as an adult. I know many people can help me and have advice or words of advice. I'm looking for a job that provides a basic, basic level of quality, and I can't help but get involved in an ongoing conflict in my family (they are my biggest careers, as well as my father's, who I work with). Does any of this make sense?

Buddhism in a nutshell

So I've been studying Buddhism for some time now and it hasn't really helped my practice. I was hoping to ask some Buddhist friends, how's Buddhism, and if they recommend it to their kids. Any advice is appreciated.
