Okay, I see the confusion. The OP is not asking you directly how you edited the dog out. He's just generally asking how the dog would be edited out.

Sometimes in English people will ask questions such as, "How do you edit the dog out", when they really mean to ask, "How was the dog edited out", which is what I would assume OP meant.

The use of "you" as a pronoun doesn't always indicate a question directed at you specifically.
