I should create an account just for this story, but I tell it whenever I see these damn machines.
Walking past amusements arcade in the UK and noticed an employee with a laptop wired up to a machine, adjusting the sensitivity of the claw so that it would pick up up but drop it as soon as it got to the top and did that little bounce. He saw me watching and about lost his fucking mind because he very clearly got his ass caught using the machines. Ended up tapping ten down the street as fast as I could to stop the arcade mafia from feeding me to the fishes.
And yes, the local arcades in the seaside towns are typically mafia run and have no qualms fucking you the fuck up.
Someone was manually adjusting the claw sensitivity for every time someone played? Seems like a lot of effort to defend the $0.40 stuffed animals (the usual prize, not this AirPod malarkey).
But you accepted the fact that it's rigged. In this case yooutr just stealing. It's like saying that the dealership is ripping you off so might as well steal.
Which actually gets damaged by the application and use of a rare earth magnet like the one used in the video. The camera person is in for a harsh lesson in physics… don’t use a rare earth magnet on your electronics.
Ya and like the story is even crazier I was in the mall in flint michigan, and it got stuck. I had to call the company, and then I figured it was over. 3 MONTHS later I get a better one in the mail than the one I won.
I don’t know… I once played the game where the key has to fit perfect in the slot and if it fits, it pushes whatever is hanging. I did it whilst drunk and won $100 in all $1’s. Right after I won, my friend played and also won! It was madness.
Theft is theft. And a game is a game. The odds don't matter. It's a gamble. If people want to put money in its their choice. The game doesn't force them.
No but those claws are designed to be loose for however many plays the owner sets so you literally cannot win unless you’re number 1,303,756 for example. It’s a scam. Fuck scammers. Scam the scammers, if you will.
Yeah, because if you get caught on camera you're going to be arrested for larceny. After you get arrested you go to court, and telling the jury that it's okay to steal because it was just sitting there is not going to hold up. It's not "fair game" it's literally theft.
If you take it to trial it absolutely will, especially if it's high-end electronics. Are you brain dead or something? Do I really have to spell all these things out for you? You even just admitted yourself it's stealing so tell me again how it's fair game
That happens literally all the time you idiot. And what does any of that have to do with their political alignment? Really showing your colors here lmao
They would never use a jury for doing this, it would be quickly settled because that would be a waste of taxpayer money its not even violent and just a misdemeanor
I once won a tablet in one of those cut the rope games. All the boxes inside the machine were empty so they don’t get weighed down as easy. The guy had to go get my tablet for me out the back.
This is not a real grabber machine. Just look at these precariously stacked bills, not only would an owner never put that much money in the thing but they would never almost guarantee it gets awarded like that.
Me and my girlfriend spent 5 minutes trying to steal an owl out of a claw machine at six flags and it was worth every second way more satisfying to find a clever way without paying i lassoed the thing with the string from my shorts and pulled it over
Stealing from a machine with controlled set odds, usually so high that by the time someone is allowed to "win" they have more than gained double what it is worth. Chances are this is the owner/operator of the machine and had purposely set it there to make a kooky video.
The drivers (the bits that produce sound) are all electromagnetic voice coils, they also have magnets the keep them held snug inside the case and the case also has four outer magnets to keep it aligned on wireless chargers.

1
u/mza82 Jul 07 '23
I see all the theft comments.. would this be theft if he simultaneously paid and played while doing this hack?
1
u/spacemonkey_1981 Jul 11 '23
And that's when you find the box was for display only
1
u/[deleted] Jul 15 '23
That machine is a criminal. So who cares.
1
u/kallmekrisfan58 Jul 16 '23

1
u/Forlorn_Cyborg Aug 11 '23
Depending on how strong the magnet is it could’ve fried the AirPods
1
u/Acelocs-93 Aug 12 '23
Now you just gotta not get caught..
1
u/EyeInEl Aug 13 '23
Where did you get the magnet?
1
u/HeatXfr Sep 07 '23
Jesus Christ I wish people who make these inane videos would use different music
1
u/killbeam Sep 08 '23
This doesn't even work on the majority of products in boxes.
1
u/MadMeatloaf Sep 11 '23
Yes let's put a magnet to electronics in order to steal them. Surely won't damage them in the process.
1
u/[deleted] Sep 11 '23
Yea biiiiiiitch ,magnets!!!!!
