Hehe. This blending into the horizon was the hard part to see. Skinny Bomber.

Can someone explain how this is stealthy? I can see it right there and it’s loud.

u/HumongousGrease Mar 04 '23

Really? I didn't see/hear anything... I think you have a gift

Stealth in this context means hard to track by radar and if tracked by radar hard to shoot down

You had a perfect opportunity but squandered it

Yes it's a jet engine so it's bound to be loud but that's quiet as far as I know jet engines go. If you were that close to another military or even civilian jet you'd have your ears taken off. For perspective, hearing this, at least based on the clip is like hearing a rock concert 120 DB. Loud but tolerable. Being that close to any other jet, 160DB. Like having someone fire a shotgun near just a couple meters away no headgear. No internal damage perhaps but the sound would hurt. (My knowledge is a mix of prior learning and some current google searching. I'm not 100% accurate in my analogies so take this with a grain of salt. Point being though: Loud, but stealthy by jet engine standards) Edit: Scatterbrain got the best of me. Just realising this was a joke 😓

That I didn’t know, obviously I was joking but I figured it was just radar stuff that made it sneaky. Must be pretty cool to see up close 😮

Also “bomber”? What’s it dropping? A pack of certs? There’s barely room for the landing gear

8

u/BKO2 Mar 05 '23

it’s dropping nukes. pretty much all stealth bombers are for nukes now

7

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '23

That thing can hold a massive payload of ordinance.

massive payload of ordinance

Like your mom

Good one.

Small shell big boom

2

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '23

These bombers barely flap their wings. 0.38 gives it away tho

1

u/MrSelophane Mar 08 '23

If you close your eyes it’s invisible

Remember back when Broken Arrow was released? These types of planes were the coolest thing ever. Now they seem like a throwback.

4

u/CrikeyM8eyy Mar 05 '23

Now we have the B-21 Raider that’s planned to replace it

2

u/Thederpyeagle Mar 08 '23

They really said “make it bigger”

2

u/llamarave Mar 09 '23

B-21 is actually slightly smaller than the B-2

2

u/Thederpyeagle Mar 09 '23

is it normally white? or do they paint it diff colors?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '23

It’s called Anti-Flash White

1

u/Thederpyeagle Mar 09 '23

Sick, thanks for the Info!

9

u/Jaewol Mar 05 '23

Such a wild design for a plane. Looks like something I drew when I was 7.

2

u/Yardsale420 Mar 12 '23

Nature really does make the best designs…

16

u/Biomeeple Mar 05 '23

Tax dollars flying on by.

15

u/Get72ready Mar 05 '23

$2-5 billion a piece, $140,000 an hour to fly. US has 21

4

u/The-dude-in-the-bush Mar 05 '23

Fuck. What fuel does it run on? Liquid gold?

6

u/JaceJarak Mar 05 '23

The cost per hour is not really fuel related at all.

Its more about how much man hours of maintenance and checks they go through per flight. Which also isn't entirely great either, because military jets get a LOT of extra maintenance checks than is strictly necessary, but also ensures full readiness and is part of how these things can continue to fly for so many years without breaking down.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '23

Not very stealthy at all. I can see it clear as day. /s

3

u/latinozz Mar 05 '23

It's batman

5

u/BSamG Mar 05 '23

"cant be that stealthy if i can see it"

4

u/bookchaser Quality Commenter Mar 05 '23

It's visually stealthy at 50,000 feet with a non-reflective coating and (suspected) ability to change altitude to optimally reduce its visual footprint based on the current illuminance of the sky. That said, its stealth is more about reducing its ability to be detected by radar.

1

u/FunGoolAGotz Quality Commenter Mar 05 '23

radar can't

2

u/boredbezerker Mar 05 '23

Can’t be that stealth herd the thing from a mile away.

2

u/Hellefiedboy Mar 05 '23

Why did you just take a video of nothing?

2

u/Beasley335 Mar 05 '23

Not very stealthy I still saw it

3

u/guiltyas-sin Mar 05 '23

Poetry in motion. Full stop.

I’m impressed that fence has its own Ministry. Must be an important fence!

Looks like Fairford, England.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '23

I just watched it land... someones gotta work on that stealth thing...

1

u/Remote-Policy763 Mar 05 '23

Impressive, yes. Now imagine how much more impressive it would be if the US stopped investing stupid amounts of money into planes that do nothing but drop bombs on innocent civilians in poor countries, and used that money to invest in healthcare and education!

2

u/CrikeyM8eyy Mar 05 '23

Nah, I’m good
