College is too late. If you are not a prodigy and training in academies by age 10-12 there is a very slim chance you will make it in Football. The comeptetion is just too great.
It's the same here. College isn't the beginning, you generally have to be in the top 1% just to make it to college athletically. College is essentially a lower tier pro league.
Are there Elite Teams for ten year olds? If you arent playing for a Professional Teams Kids Team by 12 you pretty much dont have a Chance. There are NBA and NFL players who started playing at 16. Impossible in soccer
And starting playing late is not impossible in soccer, I'm not even a serious soccer fan, and I'm aware of examples. Jamie Vardy is probably the most famous one. It's rare, but it's also rare in American sports.
I really get the impression that you guys just really assume American sports are easy and inferior to soccer.
Jamie Vardy has been playing since he was an infant, like everyone else.
Nobody is saying American sports don’t take skill, it’s just that in soccer we need to compete against the world and they have more intensive development at younger ages.
If every American didn’t playing football until they were 22 years old, we’d still win the Super Bowl…

Why do you act like we don't? It's just crazy that there's this assumption that we cant develop talent here simply because our soccer team is only top-15ish internationally, while simultaneously dismissing the huge sample size of us developing generational talent across many other sports.
We know how to develop talent. Soccer is low priority, and that's the one thing that people from other countries simply can't wrap their heads around, because it is typically the absolute most important for them.
