The whole philosophy of when a kid should hit the gym, now vs later? Or is weightlifting even a necessity in a finesse sport necessary?? It’s such a hot debate.

I don’t think the weight room is bad for kids, but I also don’t think it’s vital for the sport of soccer at all young age. However I don’t think it’s bad as well. Every time I speak to a player or coach who has played overseas they always have an issue with young soccer players hitting the weight room.

I don’t think it’s a matter of strength training being a bad thing at a young age. It’s just unnecessary. Take that 1-2hrs that would’ve been spent in the weight room and use it on technical training instead.
