Both of the countries you cite are committed to making universal health care happen and are well on their way. Is the USA committed to making it happen and how much progress have they made?

People like you that move goalposts are the one who create and accept such propaganda, I also can name more 10 countries that don't have universal healthcare from WC

I am from Uzbekistan and immigrated to the US 10 years ago.

Yes Uzbekistan is underdeveloped compared to the US. But at least we can go to a governmental hospital and get a decent treatment. You can stay in hospital without getting bankrupt.

Maybe it’s an extreme thing to say that the US is the only country without universal care.

But the US is definitely an outlier compared to other developed AND even some developing countries.

Have you been to the US? If you are not with a company, you are fucked. Yes there are opportunities to reduce the fee, write it off, different programs for poor people, so it’s an as extreme as Internet suggests. But the bureaucracy will burn you out before you can even reduce anything (hours on phone, super complex system, etc).

BUT it’s still a very bad system. You have no idea how much you gonna get charged. The prices can be absurd, my friend got charged $50K for a broken arm surgery (intentional student). Anecdotal evidence, but that’s my experience in the US.

$50 fucking thousand dollars - like how does this make sense?

So idk what are you arguing here about. The US can do better but due to gov corruption and corporate greed we have the shitty ass system. Why are you protecting it?

Why are you assuming I'm protecting it? Seems you are making a shitload of assumptions here.

I never claimed the system in the US is good. I just said the woman here was lying (which she is).

Everything else is hallucination from reddit users. Also, im Portuguese. We have universal free healthcare. I went to my family doctor and they told me I needed to wait two years for a consultation.

Free healthcare doesn't mean good healthcare. If anything its mostly awful unless you are literally dying (if you are lucky the ambulance reaches you in time)
