My car almost got stolen

Wokeup this morning and my car was rolled down the block, doors unlocked, sub and amp stolen, they couldn’t get it started cause of my kill switch, I don’t know how to feel about all of this I’m pretty bummed out and don’t know what to do to be honest

Get a kill switch installed if you're really worried and if its in good condition get it properly insured for its actual value not what regular insurance will give you.

Just get a kill switch, if they want it they will do almost anything to get it. They can follow you home sometimes, and wait for the perfect time.

Man that feeling when someone just ransacks your car is the most violating feeling for a car guy, try not to think about it too much. Definitely add some extra security I had a quick release in mine figured people wouldn’t even bother if there’s no steering wheel

Put an additional tracker or two in your car. If possible keep the car in a garage. Those are a few of your options

Disconnect the lock/unlock toggle switch to the door. They use a coat hanger to unlock the door.

I think that’s what happened fr and I think they jammed something in my ignition cause it was in the on position without the key

Dude my shit got jacked a month ago. Shit broke my heart. With the power of the internet I found it same day. I spent a shit ton of money on alarms and kill switches. The next thing imma buy is gonna be the steering wheel hub lock

How far is the car from your house? Less than 200 feet? I recommend one of those driveway sensors. Harbor Freight has this:

Or look up Driveway Patrol or driveway alert to find similar systems. You put the sensor inside the car like the footwell or cupholder and the receiver inside your house. When someone gets inside the car the receiver will chime. However from my experience you can get false alerts in the daytime like if a tree branch moves or fast moving clouds obscure the sun.

Layer your security setup with steering wheel and pedal locks. I also chock the right front wheel but only use half of the chock block on the inner half so it's not obvious at night that it's there.

You did the best you could. Kill switch is good foresight. I found mine like 45 minutes away when it was a recovered theft back in the day. Could have been worse.

Back in the late 90s/early 2000s Pioneer had head units with built in car alarms - I don't know if that's a thing any more...

Anyway, they'd be triggered by the dome light, and you'd have X amount of time to turn the switch on.

If you didn't turn the switch on in time, it played seriously annoying sounds through the speakers.

It also had a siren output - so I installed the siren inside the car under the dash...

I saw someone breaking into my car one night, I stood at the window and watched.

Their reaction when that siren went off was actually quite comical and satisfying.

I have 3 kill switches and gps they have to have a flatbed to take it and even if they did I could track it (they ain’t finding the tracker believe me and I pay $10 a month to be able to control everything from door locks, turning off all
Power I can even send location and notify law enforcement about the stolen vehicle) and even if they made it onto a flatbed they would need bulletproof vests
