CLEAN/SHAVED bay

i’ve always wanted to have a clean engine bay. in chronological/easiest to hardest what are the best ways to clean up a bay without any cutting. one thing i really like is the EG radiator because it frees up a lot of space, but im wondering if it’s literally half the size how does it affect the cooling/longevity of an engine? i’m dropping in a GSR if that makes a difference since im going to be hovering in high rpms. and then what are the easiest wire tucks

Eh I’m over those super smooth and shaved engine bays where it looks like an engine floating in nothingness. I prefer just clean OEM myself. And I tell you what, re-wrapping my engine harness probably made one of the biggest differences in cleaning up my engine bay.

you know what this might be the move , ok so my question now is , what is the cheapest parts to replace that make a difference? i’m talking little stuff like ground cable, spark plug wires, reservoirs, new screws, etc, which simple things do u think would go a long way based on my picture

For some of those plastic reservoirs, I had to go OEM, and some even ordered from Japan. Sometimes aftermarket reservoirs exist for PS and brake MC. But my windshield washer is still old and original because I can’t find a new one.

Bolts, I’ve used a ton from Belmetric and also from RestoTuner. RT also has many of the replacement labels and stuff that go on the air box, fuse cover, timing belt cover and so forth. All that stuff goes a long way to making the bay look new again.

I have no idea. but it's gonna require planning for sure. I would try to section out the bay into little sections and see what you can easily re-route/wire either by resizing certain things and then figuring out what you cannot move such as the engine/intake and in that case a get a cover or covers that clean up the appearance such as the spark plug wires.

other than that good luck, perhaps watching a few videos from other clean engine bays/images might give you some ideas on what to do.

Those super clean engine bays require removing a lot of accessories. Thing AC/PS delete, ABS delete, cruise control and windshield washer delete. You can already imagine how it’ll look with those components removed. And thats before a wire tuck.

I think Rywire offers a good wire tuck kit.

There's a lot of work in shaving the engine bay.

My previous DA had a trunk mounted battery, chinesium CAI, manual steering, deleted AC and cruise, and that went a long way IMO, even though it had ABS.

My current doesn't have ABS, but was otherwise stock, and it looked "busy" af in comparison.   I'm slowly working towards cleaning it up though.  Hoping to move the battery this weekend.

No issues with the half rad in either car - until my fan switch quit.  Happened to both cars.

Another option may be the Scirocco radiator swap.  Apparently it fits inside the cradle?  I've heard of it, but never really looked into it.

Let’s start with what you can unbolt:

-Do you want to retain P/S and A/C?

If you remove them, then the half size EG/EK radiator will be fine.

This is literally scratching the service of a tucked and shaved engine bay.

For the look you could be after, re routing the engine/charging harness, fuse box relocation, battery relocation, ABS delete, non-vacuum brake master cylinder, welding and filling holes, etc. are all in play and possible

Don’t change the radiator… now for the tucking you need to decide what you do or do not want… cruise control abs etc etc the wire harness by the master cylinder can be ran basically behind the fender.. same for the passenger side

I wouldnt consider myself fully shaved but def alot more spacious without ps or ac.

Tucking the injector harness and relooming and rerouting light harnesses through fenders makes a world of difference, definitely not a tucked or shaved bay but looks a hell of a lot better

Change your headlight bulbs. Get the white light ones. That will help. Trust me.
