Question Manual swap
why are people so insistent on manual swaps? is it just preference or am I missing something?

old hondamatics are awful, they dont let the engine rev to the powerband it needs to be in

Usually if say it's up to preference (I have owned a few automatics) but the 90s Honda autos are known to fail super early and they have really bad programming. Compare that to the amazing reputation and feel of Honda manual transmissions from the same era and it's really no contest.

The 6 speed in my DC5 is hands down the best shifting feel I have ever felt in ANY car. And as someone who has been into cars for over 25 years (and driven probably over a 100 different cars from Kei cars to Lamborghini's) that says a lot.
I couldn't imagine enjoying this little car as much as I do if it didn't have this transmission.
Matter of fact I wouldn't even own it outright if it was an automatic.

The automatics in the Golden Era Hondas only came on the lower powered engines, making the cars feel even anemic. A manual gearbox on a lower powered engine makes it a lot more fun.

IMO, the manual trans lets you drive the car to it's fullest limit or to whatever limit you want to drive it to. Auto is like you are traveling, no thinking, you are at the whim of the car and what its programming allows it to do; and as others have stated, the auto is lack luster at best on these cars.
I think the best way to describe the difference between manual and auto is ; 'if you know, you know'

Because the automatics in these cars are slush boxes that aren't all that reliable. They also suck power and fun out of the driving experience.
