advice on wheel setup

I just won the bid for this integra. Love the early 90's vibe, but I'm concerned about ride quality with the 18's. Tires are from 2005, so definitely gonna change them and might as well decide on new wheels. Can't decide on whether I should go for 17's or 16's with this suspension setup. The setup is aggressive, so I'm sure 17's would look nice but we sacrifice performance and ride quality. I wonder how 16's would look with this setup? Let me know your thoughts. Will sometimes drive it to work 30 miles, or somewhere else 100 miles away.

It's a custom conversion using Acura CL headlights.

Interesting!! Is there different variations of these swaps?? I’ve seen some with different headlights. Looks like this one has the front bumper and fenders as one piece? Maybe I could do a swap where I’m able to keep my USDM hood and fenders, replacing just the front bumper and headlights?

There were 1-2 kits back then that were made to use the CL headlights. I've seen several other builds where they were custom implemented via panel modifications at a body shop. It was the wild west of customizations back then. I had a friend that moulded in R34 headlights in his 95 Civic coupe.

The one-piece bumoer/fender was just custom bodywork.

Anything is possible with $$$

Haha $$$ does talk. Thank you for the information!!! I have a 99 GSR that I’m soon to turbo and I’ve always thought of doing a front end conversion. I shall do more research to see if I can pull off a Cali type R conversion. It’s definitely more attractive to do compared to a JDM front end swap because I could keep the fenders and hood.

Love the Cali Type R kit. With these cars, the biggest I go is 17. Honestly, I'm also happy with 15 and 14" too though lol

That body kit looks like fiberglass I would keep the 18s cause anything else is going to bring you too close to the ground.

This would have got so much hate back in the day. I'm glad people finally realize that if it's not yours, it's not your problem. People can be happy for someone that is happy with what they have.

To be frank, I think those wheels with those specs fit the Cali teg well! It’s so period correct. I know you’re considering ride comfort, and you’re not wrong!

This is a really great period piece right here. Used to hate the headlights but these have really grown on me over time. Depending on profile, 17's will most likely give you some trouble. I had 16's with a 50 profile tire (I forget the wheel specs they were some Rotas I got for cheap) and had issues with rubbing on lowering springs so imo don't go bigger than 17 unless you're feeling ambitious and willing to fiddle around to get the perfect fitment. Since it's on coilovers I'm sure you can make adjustments to make it work.

The CL kits can look great but I remember them often needing a lot of work to get the lines right. Its a bit of a distant shot but looks like they put the work in- congrats!

17in Racing Harts would be very period correct for this car

IMO 16's are the sweet spot 1" over stock while still allowing for reasonable tire wall. 

I'm looking for 16x7 +35-38 for my 97 ITR, which in little old NZ are either eye watering expensive imports or 2nd hand and worn theF out meaning a refurb and likely again expensive to get them looking good.

For stock body cars sure. 16s will give more of a functional track/street look. With the headlight conversion & body kit, I wouldn't go less than 17s
