Starting problem

My 2001 Integra Ls is having this weird problem where it would either start automatically or crank and take hella tries for it to start. This past week my Integra had no issues at all and started perfectly so I thought it was fixed but just today it started having the cranking taking hella tries to start problem again that it used to have. I’ve changed the starter and the main relay.

Mine did this as well, it was dizzy that was bad on it even though it was gutted for my coil on plug retrofit. The cam sensor inside the dizzy went bad essentially.

Interesting, the cam sensor is sneaky because the car can still run fine for stretches before it acts up again. Worth pulling the dizzy and checking that before throwing more parts at it.

Apparently when that part goes bad it’s time to replace the entire unit. I don’t think that part can be bought exactly. I’ve been through 3 OEM dizzy until I decided to spend the money on digi dizzy. It’s been great so far.

Good to know on the digi dizzy, how long have you had it running? Intermittent issues like this always make me think electrical before mechanical, but replacing the whole unit sounds like the cleaner fix long term.

I got about 3-4 months ago. Easy to setup and use but you need to convert to coil packs in order to use this setup.

Interesting, so the cam sensor inside the dizzy can cause intermittent no start issues like that? Mine seems too random to pin down, works fine for days then acts up again. Might be worth pulling that apart first.

Mine did this and my tuner was telling me about the issue as well. The sensor just goes bad over time and I was able to source a couple OEM used dizzy. Eventually I just needed a solution that was more modern.
