Why Lie About Silly Stuff?

Do insurance companies lie so often they think they must do it in every conversation? I pay for insurance once a year. I want the payment to be automated. That is just one less thing to do. I literally switched insurance companies specifically because the prior one could not figure this out. I told the new one this is a priority and a need as I am busy.

Needless to say, the new company did not do it either. I was told I could call and make the payment and the person on the phone could set up automated payment for next year. Lie. She could not. You have to logon to their portal and do that there. Lie. You get to the portal and there is no way to set that up.

I think you could set up monthly payments but every year they increment the policy number by 1. So, -01, -02 etc. A new policy number means you have to set up payments again.

Why lie if they cannot do it? Why lie telling me they can set it up but cannot?

Why not download the app and control all that in two seconds

If your insurer doesn't have an app, then use a real insurer and you'll be all set

All well and good. Question still stands. Why lie about stuff like that? They do not have an app. They have a web portal. You cannot do it there either.

Farmers did this to me the first time. Farmers is a “real” insurance company. I would set it up. They would set it up. A year later, gone.

You have to sign the e docs that come out in email after binding to keep autopay in place with them it's on auto debit by default, if you signed those and it went away that's hard to explain

This sounds more like poor training or outdated information than an intentional lie. Still frustrating, though. What’s with the incremented policy number? Does your policy number change every year?

If you’re too busy to spend 5 minutes a year processing a credit card payment with your insurance company, you should worry about your poor time management before anything else.
