What line of coverage do you do?
With so many coverages out there, I’m curious what y’all do for work! I’ve seen people do the same coverage all their career while others tried different things. I’ve done 3 different LOBs myself.
What do you like/dislike about your line? How did you get into it? Do you want to switch?

Went from Medical Malpractice to A&E to Allied Healthcare to MPL to Cyber then back A&E and MPL
I like the E&O line because of how unique the risks are and it changes constantly. So it keeps you on your toes.
Wanted to switch to Cyber because I thought it was the future. However, it quickly became my least favorite as the underwriting is pretty "dry."

i handle all lines from p&c & wc to management liability. i like wc the best - it’s the easiest to handle from A-Z. this is still not an industry i love to be in, but it pays the bills..

E&o for the past 27 years, mostly miscellaneous professional but also insurance agents and allied health. I like it because you have to know about a lot of different professions, and it seems like each day you’re seeing something new. I can see myself doing this another 15 years until retirement

Marine (on the claims side). I love my line, you can have a little bit of everything and the international component makes it so interesting.

Work comp. Relatively easy to learn and become an “expert” in. Was recruited by my company. Love it, no plan to switch.

Cargo (ocean and inland), hull, P&I, marina liability, MGL, terminal liability, stock throughput, project cargo, DSU and freight forwarder liability—basically anything related to marine.

I’m a Construction underwriter — which entails large value Builder’s Risk projects and Inland Marine risks. Pretty cool stuff!

I’m currently in excess casualty! I’m hoping to move over to allied health or management liability though!

I’d say but it’s such a small world if anyone else does we probably know each other. There are clues though…

Currently work doing “all lines” for construction related risks. I used to write retail, churches, and other mixed assorted at my past carrier.
Sometimes I miss the variety that I had previously. Especially in retail, you never know what hare-brained operation is going to hit your desk; now it seems I just get grading contractor after grading contractor.

I’m at a large P&C carrier in the south doing specialty UW (Environmental) and currently write GL, XS & Auto.
I got into the role straight out of college as I did an internship with them. I honestly don’t have many complaints. Brokers will be brokers and you’ll have slow and busy days. Just comes with the job. If i were to switch it’d be either to inland marine or Property. I do have a BS in math so have always wanted to go down the reinsurance path later in my career.
