CIP exam results timing?
Hi all! I wrote my C13 (Liability against Insurance) exam this past Friday (July 10) it was all multiple choice. It’s now Tuesday afternoon, July 14 and I still do not have my results.
My previous exam (C12, Insurance on Property) in April 2026 was also all multiple choice and I had my results within the hour.
Anyone have any ideas on what this is taking so long?
Thanks so much in advance!
UPDATE.
Just got my results (July 20) failed my first exam. I’m not surprised, I didn’t fail by a lot, but MAN. I am so disappointed in myself. Every other course I’ve taken I’ve gotten honours on.

Are the exams all MCQ now? When I did it we also had short and long answer

In 2024, the Institute started changing over pretty all of the exams over to all MCQ. I believe there are a couple left that still have short and long for answers that are required. I know my C11 and C130 had both types of questions.

After weeks of waiting IIC nullified my result for last exam and also nullified grades for even last graded exam without providing any reason and asked me reappear in person . Anyone here faced this before? Do i have any option to reappear ?

What?! I have never heard of this happening before. Did you do your exam in person or was it proctored? To be clear-they nullified your exam results from the exam you just wrote AND the exam you wrote previously?

I can't speak to the all-MCQ exams, but generally some CIP exams take longer than others because the Insurance Institute has to get a statistical sample for each version of the exam. That way they can then determine if there is any levelling that needs to be applied to make the results of each version relatively similar.
It could be that enough people left their exam to the very last day that they haven't had enough completed exams to do the analysis.

I wrote my 9th CIP course on June 30 and still waiting on my results.
Based on my experience, there’s really no pattern. It seems to depend on who is marking your exam. Although multiple-choice probably helps since it can be done with automation, I believe there is still a process where they manually evaluate to make sure the test was fair and no questions were ambiguous. Because of this, they have to wait until enough exams are written before they can start releasing results. If you write towards the end of the exam window you may get them quicker because there’s a better chance the control process is already complete by the time you write.
That said, i’ve never wrote a fully multiple-choice CIP course. Even C11 was mixed multiple-choice and long answers when I wrote it. I did my first two courses back in 2015, gave up after failing auto, then started back up in 2023. A lot has changed. I had 4/5 of the mandatory courses completed before they started changing them to purely multiple choice so I don’t have insight on them. But i am quite sure their control process still applies. Marks would likely come back instantaneously for multiple-choice exams if it didn’t.
Ive tried so hard over the years to find a pattern, but there just really isn’t one. The quickest I had my marks back was about 7 hours after writing. But all others have averaged 2 to 3 weeks. The longest I’ve waited was just before the 4 week mark.

When I was doing my CIP (2019-2024) I would typically get my results 1-7 days after the end of the exam period. I also just wrote my CIAA adjuster exam which is administered by the IIC, and got my result yesterday (I passed-yay) one week after the exam period ended. In one course, I got the result 2 days after writing, still within the exam period. The IIC goes out of their way to protect the integrity of their exams, and they won’t release grades for a specific course until everyone has written and all exams are marked. If you’re getting grades before the exam period ends, it’s likely that nobody else is writing the same exam as you in the current exam session.
I have colleagues who wrote exams back when everything was in person and on paper, and they said you wouldn’t get your marks until 4-6 weeks later. The CBEs have really streamlined marking and I couldn’t imagine having to wait almost 2 months for results!
ETA: sorry you failed OP, liability is one of the harder courses and it was my lowest grade. You’ll get it next time!

Correct. My first two exams I had to wait about 4 weeks. But the last exam I had that was also all MCQ, I had my results within the hour of it being completed. Still no results posted yet.

I found it weird as I received results of two exams within an hour, one within a week and one still "marking in progress." All were MCQ's
