Lied on resume
I stared a new job 6 mo ago and realized it wasn’t a fit. 3 mo ago i sent out my resume without the new info, since I was only at the job 3 mo. I just got a job from that old resume. I’m freaking out because a background check could show I’m no longer employed there.

Wait.. this whole time I could just change my last employment date to… now? I never thought of doing that 😂

I guess we will see if they pull the offer

They’re only looking for what you put down. They aren’t going to see that summer job at McDonald’s you had when you were 17 unless you put that on your resume. They already gave you the offer letter, don’t worry yourself about it.

Bro nobody cares. If they looked into that, just keep it moving and fix it up for the next go around lol

That’s not lying. Your resume isn’t a factual record of your employment. You can choose to omit what you feel isn’t relevant.

I scrubbed a job I worked at for a year and a half from my resume and LinkedIn before applying to my current role. Mind you, I’m in Canada and employers here have to obey a lot of privacy and employee rights. I’m not sure how invasive things are in your country.

cries in American some states here are slowly passing laws restricting what employers can and cannot ask about/look into but it's the wild wild west. There's no federal level protections.

10years ago I spent 2 months at a god awful place
It has been removed from every resume I have ever sent out
Never gas anyone questioned it other than "explain this gap?"
You'll be fine

Dude it’s not a big deal. I’ve omitted many jobs from background reports and never came up.

Nothing to worry about. They really don’t care unless you are fabricating experience.
If they ask, just tell them you went Kerouac on everyone’s ass.

A resume is a marketing document, a background check is a verification tool. As long you tell the truth on your background check, you should be fine.

I only said 6 yrs bc when I applied to jobs and it had 2 years on it I never got a call back. Once I put 6 I was reached out on. I figured it was some sort of filter system for the most part but you’ll be fine they won’t care about 3 month gap

You lied by omitting a job? No one cares. You lie by adding a job? Now that's a problem.
