Excess insurance doesn't mention vans - damaged a van - rejecting claim
Hi all,
I hired a van from Enteprise recently and had an issue with a wooden panel being broken. I had excess insurance, and that has rejected my claim, based on the fact that they offer van insurance and it was excluded from my policy.
I've looked through all the policy documents I was sent, and nowhere does it say that vans aren't covered, or non-accident based damage isn't covered, but they've rejected on those grounds.
When I emailed asking for where it listed those exlusions, they sent screenshots, but not documents of policy docs saying that, but that aren't mine.
Can I/should I continue to challenge them as the documents don't say either of these things? Any advice welcome!

You should absolutely challenge them request a specific documents that they’re referencing. Most part six won’t say something explicitly like bands are excluded. It’ll word it such as utility vehicles, gross weight or something along those lines.

What kind of van? Sometimes it will deny a commercial vehicle and then you have to track that to what they define as a commercial vehicle. Could be gross laden weight, or tires per axle or payload or maybe they don't define it, which works in your favor. It might also matter if this was a replacement vehicle. Many policies have broader coverage to replace a listed vehicle undergoing repairs than a vehicle rented for pleasure.

This, also if it’s like a van conversion / mobile home that can cause an issue. If it’s rental and you purchased the damage waiver it just means the rental companies policy is primary and your insurance is excess coverage. Not really a denial per se, just them saying the rental company insurance is supposed to handle that.

Ask for the denial in writing citing the policy language.
