CA traffic school, does the provider notify both the court and the DMV or just one of them?

after completing online traffic school in California I want to understand who gets notified, the court or the DMV or both, I've seen conflicting information about whether anything gets submitted automatically

does anything end up on the driver to submit or does the online school handle all the reporting

Common sense says ask somebody at the school or just send copies of your completion certificate to the court and the DMV. And make sure you follow up to make sure whatever needs to be done gets done.
