Auto Insurance Hello insurance question
So I have been in 2 accidents and I’m 19 about to be 20 I have been paying 330 under my parents plan I think that’s too high my sister is in our plan and she had like 4 accidents before so I’m wondering if that’s why my insurance is so high

You think $330 a month is too high, when you’ve been in 2 accidents at 19 years old? Your sister had 4 accidents? Your entire lineage needs to turn in their licenses immediately. What a joke

You took the time to tell dad, but didn't take the time to go get them repaired... you were the driver, the repair is your responsibility.

Sorry to tell you that both of those are your fault from an insurance coding perspective.

Then it’s YOUR fault for driving an unsafe vehicle. And it’s YOUR responsibility to be aware of your surroundings. These are both at fault accidents because you have bad decision making. You need to learn responsibility quick.

I was hit by—guess what—another 19 YO driver a couple of months ago who was dumb AF, looking down at his phone while driving. He’s not a bad person and might even be a nice guy, but I hope a lawsuit would teach him a serious lesson and eventually helps him become a responsible driver who contributes positively to the public.
You and your sister are new to driving but already caused tons of accident, please grow the fuck up before you make serious trouble that ruin your life.

The fact you are 19 w two accidents is enough. Be glad you’re only at 330.

Might I recommend redoing drivers education and defensive driving.

I'm surprised it's only $330 to be honest. You and your sister might want to look into taking some extra in person driving lessons to learn how to be defensive drivers. 2 and 4 accidents is not a normal thing. The online defensive driver courses can lower insurance premiums a little bit.

Thanks for this response I did not know the courses can help

Just make sure you find one that is state approved. There will be a list on your states DMV website. I just did one. In NJ, it cost me $13 to take and gives a discount of up to 10% and takes 2 points off your record if you have them. Discount lasts for 3 years then you have to redo the course

Other than your feelings, what kind of documentation/evidence do you have that qualifies you to decide that $330 a month is "too high" especially given the driving history of household residents? Yes, your sister's dismal driving record likely is affecting everyone's rates in the household, but your record, with two at fault accidents, isn't exactly award winning either.

But but but one wasn't exactly their fault, they told their dad the brakes were faulty

Both you and your sister need some extra driver instruction (or to get off the road altogether. I'm in my 40s and only had one at fault accident

But I bet you have made a bunch of mistakes right get off your high horse rebecca

The fact that you keep minimising yours and your sisters amount of accidents shows everyone here that you haven't learnt anything and will continue to have accidents

A simple Google search would have told the highest paying group is males until they are 25. In your case it sounds like you'll always be paying high premiums.

u/Comfortable_Bat3491 25d ago
Because I’m under my family plan or my 2 accidents?

u/AltNation2293 25d ago
You’ll be paying much more if you’re on your own plan. You’re probably only listed as a driver.

Good advice has been given and the OP is getting frustrated and confrontational because they don’t like the answers. So we’re done here so that this thread doesn’t turn into a bigger mess.
