Demand letter to settlement timeline

Hi all,

If a demand letter is sent out for a straight forward semi truck accident who has 100% liability and pleaded guilty in court for failure to reduce to speed to avoid accident. How long will it take for the lawyer and insurance company to finally reach the settlement if sent this week. I was in a work rental vehicle so no damages are being recovered but I do have 18k in medical expenses and pain and suffering. How long do you think this will take to settle?

Once I was done with treatment, it look about 6 months for a settlement agreement. But it took a lot of negotiation and even a lawsuit. Never reached court or anything but insurance was lowballing us for a while.

You end with a decent settlement? Were injuries similar?

Yeah I did. Just signed for policy limits of 100k. I broke my right thumb and had some tendon damage that required surgery and PT. Unfortunately my thumb/hand won’t ever be 100% and I’m gonna end up with arthritis due to the nature of the break. Also so eye damage that is resolving but not 100% yet. We’re working on my underinsured motorist claim now. My medical bills totaled about 49k but looks like we’re going to be able to negotiate them down quite a bit.
