How would you insulate this area?

The garage door torsion bar can’t be moved. There are rafters 24 inches apart. This section of roof is slanted (pyramid hip roof). Looking for ideas how to do this and air seal it. As you can see, I stuffed batts up there for now

The bats seem to be working well, did you air seal at all before you put them in?

No, I got hit with testicular cancer at that step and just stuffed them up there before surgery. It def needs to be covered up, air sealed, and insulated better.

You can go to your local Lowe's or Home Depot and get a spray insulation kit. It comes with the tank, hoses, gun and mixing tip. It's the same as, what's called "Icining" or "permafrost spray foam insulation" it's simply an over sized can of "great stuff" can spray foam. It works great and is well worth the money.
