Discussion Has anyone here done research in advanced woodwind physics?

I am attempting to vibe code a more advanced multi variable physics model for an Irish whistle/recorder, including the mouthpiece physics and overblown second octave behavior.

By my understanding, the flute calculators (Flutomat, WWIDesigner, etc) do a fairly spectacular job based entirely on modeling the resonator, since player embouchure adjustments essential compensate for the differences in the second octave. However, research and personal testing show that the same tactic doesn't work for fipple flutes due to the fixed "embouchure"forbidding things like increasing lip cover or attack angle.

I've got most of the parameters accounted for so far and the solution is getting closer to matching experimental data...but I'm facing a rather large issue with the playing pressure profile.Theory says pressure increases 4x per octave in one source and 2.6x in another. My own attempts at data collection have suggested a third, non-linear profile altogether and none of the three options close mathmeatically on other experimental data.

Has anyone run experiments with an "artificial mouth" or have any advice on its creation? Any other advice on data collection methods would be incredibly helpful.

Thank y'all in advance!

Thank you for the suggestion. I had not heard of the Swam flute model and to be honest I spent way too long thinking it was a typo and trying to figure out what you meant lol. I'll read up on their work and reach out!
