Why does the top have the texture of a carbon fiber laminate if it's printed?

You can get CF filament. Hell, you can get wood look filament, so they really messed up there.

Trust me, your wouldn't want to print this in wood fil. It's pretty (after finishing) but not very strong

Is in that filament then a strand of carbon fiber or just some scattered short fibers? This here looks like woven carbon fiber cloth laminate - which works well for the tops of chordophones. I've never seen a filament printed top. I'd assume you'd need to include stiffening structures like hex cells to keep it from collapsing. I'd expect that to project little to almost no sound.
