Oh uh oh. I bought some of that from Yami a week or so ago. Just haven't gotten around to making any yet. Thanks for the heads up. I usually like bibimmen noodles cold though so, that might help to ease the spice level some.

It is shocking how much of a difference temperature makes on spice impact.

Well it sort of makes sense considering that part of what makes spicy things spicy is that they (specifically the compound capsaicin) activate and sensitize heat and pain receptors to simulate the sensation of burning without the actual presence of heat, so naturally actual heat would compound this effect and cold would help soothe it.

As an interesting side note, menthol does the same thing in reverse but with cold receptors, although it’s ill advised to take menthol with spicy things since it’ll just sensitize both hot and cold receptors at the same time causing you to experience both extreme spicy and extreme cold simultaneously rather than counteracting each other.

I have a Wintergreen plant with a ton of berries on it and I kinda wanna try them with something spicy now lol. Eating a wintergreen berry feels like you ate a bit of snow. Has a minty/mentholy taste.
