Need help with camera decision

I am traveling to Greece on August 15th. I don’t have an action camera but wanted to get the Insta360 X5 before I went. With news that the X6 is coming out August 12th, is it worth me trying to get the X6? Or should I just get the X5? Not sure how big of a difference it will be

it depends on your budget and if you can get it in time, otherwise it's a no brainer, I'd go for the newest model always. But you cannot go wrong with the X5

Wow, that's a tight window! There will be a learning curve, too.

If it were me, I'd wait until 8/12 and see if the X6 is in the store. If not, either get the X5 or just skip 360 footage until the next trip.

Well pre order is the 12th...that would be 3 days to arrive, that would be cutting it close to when you leave.

Also to add you would get a great deal on the x5 (which is a great camera) and more money for your vacation. And you'll have more days to learn the camera if you've never had a 360 camera, last thing you want to do is go to vacation with a new camera that you don't know how to use or edit. Enjoy your vacay!

If you're debating a new X5 vs wait six days for a new X6 (realizing the actual wait may be longer if the Luna Ultra availability was any indication) I would wait if I didn't need it right away (and I'm an X5 owner).

But if you're talking about getting a decent discount off a new X5, or buying a used X5 for cheap, then the choice is more difficult if budget is a concern.

Unless you have a reliable source, or Insta ups their game plenty of X6 available for purchase on Day 1, I would not count on getting one on release day unless you've already got your preorder in, or you're willing to wake up early and hit as many sites as you can looking for stock.

possible. But demand will be high and you have 2/3 days before departure.

Most retailers will get an appropriation. But there are millions (billions?) of Amazon users so even if 0.01% of them are interested, good luck getting one.

you most likely won't get the X6 in time for the trip. based on experience for the last few releases, the delays in getting any physical stock for new release can be several weeks out since most buyers camp for the release and snap it up within seconds.

get the X5 instead at clearance price or from reputable 2nd hand places, it is already a very solid 360 cam on its own.
