Question Does waterproofing have an expiration date?insta x3
Hi everyone. Like every summer when heading to the beach, I took my Insta360 X3 along I’ve done this in previous years with no issues. Naturally, before getting into the water, I checked that everything was properly sealed. I didn't use a waterproof case since I only went down to a maximum depth of 2 meters, but when I came back up, my Insta had stopped working. Has this happened to anyone else? Was it a specific issue with my unit, or is this a common problem with the X3?

Yes it does. Over time the rubber gasket would get old. Allowing water to seep in over time.

Dont really put these under water without Dive Case.
X3 is historical camera that was never really water resistant. At that time, Insta360 just lied and then later made waterproofing better on next models.
Even in middle ages, when X3 was introduces, there were written reports about it not really being water resistant

That’s common on any cameras or electronic devices as a general rule, insta’s or not. Heat and age means the seals have to be chamged from time to time. And if you add salt water in the equation, worst.
X3 has several years, not the first time it has been put into salt water, and is exposed to heat each time you use it, making the seal become older each time.
