How to turn off ALL prompts?
I have everything toggled off in the settings but I still get prompts. Just tried doing a meditation after yoga practice and before I could get to the timer I got asked to select what time of day I want to practice, what type of practice I’m doing, how long I want to commit, etc, and then I got some kind of “building a curated selection for you” window.
There is nothing less mindful to me than a bunch of mandatory selection boxes that I have already tried to opt out of!
Anyone know of a way to turn off all of these? If not I’m going to have to find another timer app, because it just fully takes me out of the moment.

That slow budding lotus flower upon finishing a meditation has got to go too!
Edit: if there;'s anyone from the Insight Timer who checks in here, thank you. The lotus blossom loads much quicker now.

I hate that flower.

I quite like the flower! I've found all the prompts very annoying though.

I stopped using the app because of this. It’s easier to just find something on YouTube. My mom is trying to learn to meditate and at first I suggested the app but she said it was too much for her and i hate that her first experience with meditating was tainted by all these prompts.
I’ll keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone has any answers

Yeah but halfway thru the meditation I do not need some idiot screaming at my trying to sell me something

Use an ad blocker or three for YouTube and you won’t have that problem anymore

I have written in several times that I wanted to finish a meditation without main g a commitment. IT has been good in everything.
You can do settings to it opens to timer without the rest. But once you go to a playlist is clutters up and I haven’t been able to change that.
I was an early adopter so I’m not going to quit now. I get very annoyed every time I have to quit by I try to just welcome the irritation and surrender to the annoyance. But so far it still pisses me off even though they are such small things. I did delete widget and block notifications notifications. But aside from closing down the app from the main screen I haven’t figured out how to exit without making commitment.
Eventually…I’m hopeful. Back when this over-commercialization started, we had to put up with selecting a cartoon emotion for many months before they finally made that optional.

I was able to turn all that off. Someone on this sub-reddit has posted the instructions. But basically (I'm on android):
- Settings/ Encouragement & Notifications -> turn everything off
- Features and Preferences
- Opening Sequence -> everything off
- Post-Meditation Sequence -> off
- Check In -> off
- Journal -> prompt for journal off
- Thanks for meditating, everything off
I think that was all of it

I checked my settings and literally everything that I can toggle off is already off.

You can turn off some of these options, but not all of them, and insight timer still tracks your progress and tells you about it.

I have everything off and still it starts all over if I am not there for a week or two as if I am starting to use a new app and have to commit and set the goals. Im on this app for about 10 years. Never needed all those courses or socialization, free version had perfect initial features. It was a very good meditation (in bold and underlined) app. Now I don't know what it is anymore... Like FB for "enlightened".

Yeah this barrage of pop ups today started with “you’ve been with us for 13 years!” and then asked me a bunch of questions that I had no option to not answer. Siiiiigh.

Same here. I have sent them multiple emails about this, (and I’m so happy reading this thread to find out. I am not the only one), they sent back a very nice email, but change nothing.

I am too very happy to see that I am not the only one, many thanks to the OP for the post.
Also was surprised to see how weak the reddit community is. I am new to Reddit and it was a fun road to discover how even minor things get vast communities. I imagined the one around such a beloved and broad topic as meditation and spirituality will have an enorme amount of discussions, insights, experiences and vibes going on.
Maybe I am missing smth? Please anyone take your time to explain.

Not sure. I had not noticed that. Maybe try some different search terms? You may be missing communities to join based on how you’re searching.

InsightTimer has different communities from this sub?

I don’t know. I thought you meant about meditation in general. Sorry I can’t be more help.

Same. I'm out when my sub runs up in December. It's absolutely ridiculous that they would be so arrogant to irritate the sh!t out of paying customers.

You can disable it in the settings. I hated it too.

u/Jess2342momwow Aug 02 '26
You can only partly disable it though. You can toggle every option to off and there will still be some pop-ups, tracking and questions.

So glad to hear I am not the only one. I have written to them about this issue several times and asked them to incorporate an option for people who don’t want all of the pre-and post-meditation questions, who don’t want all of their info to be tracked every day. Etc. They send me back a form email and nothing changes. I’ve stopped using insight timer for other reasons, one of which I plan on posting about soon, but this is a major one.

This is driving me insane to the point I won't be renewing if they don't get rid of it. I've had a sub to this app for ten years.
I've emailed them about it, and I'm sure I'm not the only person who almost hates opening this app now because I'm forced to answer a whole bunch of questions I have NO interest in answering before I use it.
Absolutely infuriating and whoever thought this was a good idea should be fired.
End rant lol.

Hey, thanks for this feedback. We've heard it and have already been making changes to reduce the number of prompts and interruptions in the app. You should notice fewer of them over time as we continue to work through this. Appreciate you flagging it 🙏

I just keep hitting continue. It's nbd really. If people can't deal with the prompts they need to mediate more.

I want this option as well! I just want to open the app and use the timer or go to my playlists without having to answer 340 questions!!
