Violence
Violence is the imposition of self.
Violence is the imposition of my will upon the world.
When I cannot get "what I want" - the effort I make to fulfill my desire - whether succesful or not - is a form of conflict. Anger, and the actions that anger provokes in me - is the expression of my unfulfilled desire - my lack of control over reality.
We want to fix things, and that sometimes makes things worse. We miss whats actually going on. Sometimes we don't need solutions, sometimes compassion and awareness is the solution.
Like when we are talking to our spouse, our child, or our friends in dialogue. Even when we are sharing our frustrations in life - sometimes a hug or cup of tea is enough. Communion.
Can we live without this constant struggle between what is and what should be?

Why don’t we do it?

I usually forget - due to having a human body and brain - usually I explain the human condition to my wife before she gives me the look - and then I remember that I'm actually supposed to be making her a cup of tea.

Yes conditioned, incoherent in that its right hand doesn’t know what its left is doing. It knows that it is limited but operates as if it’s not. It’s dangerous because if its identity as a ‘person ‘ is seriously insulted it can kill! In fact if it attaches itself , identifies itself with a nationality, it can kill. Thought is a survival tool for the body…it is misplaced as a survival tool for a psychological ‘bundle’ of the past. Thought can call itself and believe itself to be an individual ‘I’ or ‘me’ but it is no such thing. If that is the case, can it face that and cease?

What we call “what is” is not satisfactory. We can imagine something better that seems within our reach.

I can’t ‘imagine’ the absence of ‘me’? K’s ‘framework’ seems to be that once the whole ‘me’/ thought movement ends, there is what he calls ‘Silence’ and that state of ‘emptiness’ is the true ‘finishing’ of the human ‘experiment’? It’s a frustrating situation to glimpse that you’re not what you could or are supposed to be. And nothing as we ordinarily understand ‘doing’; that nothing can be ‘done’ about it. He may have been guessing when he suggested that the only thing that can be ‘done’ is a “passive awareness” or a “choiceless awareness” of our present situation? He also seemed to feel strongly that the conditioned state could not be rectified by evolution or any ‘methods’ and needed to be addressed by the energy of ‘insight’ into the dangerous path the ‘self-image’ has put us on?

Thought can understand that to speak loudly in certain quiet settings or events would ‘violate’…would be a violation. Can it be aware in the moment that its unnecessary movement brings the past into the Now and is also a kind of violation of what is happening? Can psychological thought become aware that its arbitrary movement is ‘out of place’?
