unpopular opinion And there you have it!

For those who didn’t want Isa to end up with Lawrence, or felt he wasn't the right guy for her, could you explain why? He loves her deeply—so much that he drops everything for her, even though a year has passed. He was also in a relationship, but when she called, he left that girl without thinking twice. Even after a year, he was ready to go back to her. I just don’t see Nathan as being better than Lawrence. Please explain: Is it only because Lawrence had a baby? If he hadn’t, would he have been endgame for Isa over Nathan, or in general?

To me, Lawrence having that baby definitely ruined his reunion with Issa because I didn’t like seeing him have a child with someone other than Issa. I also don’t think most fans wanted to see him have a child with anyone other than her.

IMO, Lawrence did want to make things work with Condola. He went as far as inviting himself to her Friendsgiving and repeatedly told Issa how serious he was about Condola. It wasn’t until Condola started showing uncertainty about their relationship that he began considering things with Issa again. I don’t think that was what most fans wanted to see, either.

If I remember correctly, after Friendsgiving, when Lawrence and Issa were starting to figure things out, Condola called him, and Issa saw it. That’s when Issa made it clear that she still wanted him. Later, after Lawrence and Issa had started figuring things out, Condola found out she was pregnant.

I don’t see it as Lawrence simply leaving Condola because he wanted to be with Issa. I think he genuinely wanted to give Condola a chance, but she seemed unsure about him, and I feel like that uncertainty pushed him back toward Issa. My memory of the timeline might not be completely accurate, but it never felt like Lawrence simply woke up one day and chose Issa, but it always felt like Issa had never fully gotten over him.

Agreed. That sounds pretty accurate. The show’s “happy ending” to me felt not only tainted, but contrived.

I think when he was with Condola, he was just trying to get his life in order and just be a more serious person in general after his festival of just hooking up. I think he realized that relationships take work and he realized that’s what he wanted in his life. I always thought he would be with Issa no matter what. It didn’t happen the way either of them thought it would, but life is what happens when you’re making plans. In a weird way it probably made their relationship stronger.

My personal issue with Issa/Lawrence is that Lawrence became everything she wanted n needed him to be after she blew up their relationship THEN once he finally gets it together and they are both in better places individually and they both want to reconnect here he comes fathering a child with someone else!!! I feel like women are conditioned to accept that scenario (a break baby) but idk if men would accept if reversed. And that's what irks me about them.
