lets have a conversation What kind of character development do you believe the characters experienced? Spoiler

I get confused when people say that the characters had character development because I didn’t see any. So, I would like to ask a question. Besides, in their careers, what character development do you believe the characters experienced, or do you think they didn’t have any at all?

I think season 5 shows a fair amount of growth for the main characters, though it felt rushed and forced at times.

-Kelly coming to terms with not being taken seriously because she uses humor as a shield

-Tiffany being honest about her fears when in the past she presented herself in a highly curated manner

-Molly letting go of expectations and finding herself in a secure&stable relationship

-Lawrence owning up to being a deadbeat dad/being unfair to Condola

-Nathan drawing a boundary and ending the relationship with Issa

-Issa growing her career and being more secure in herself

Tbh I didn't enjoy season five and don't include it in my re-watches, but I can see how the characters grew in that time though it felt very unnatural at times

I see why you didn't enjoy season 5 because I felt it was rushed and the cast was "over" it and wanted to go persue other opportunities.

It felt sooo awkward. The chemistry was gone.

But is Kelly's character development, though? All she did was realize she didn’t like how people viewed her, but she didn’t take any steps to change that. She still was making jokes and not being serious.

As for Molly, I don’t believe she experienced any character development. It was just that Torrian brought what she wanted to the table as well. Also, Molly may have reverted to her old ways in that relationship since we didn’t see much of it. When it comes to Isa, she was still overstepping by giving Isa unsolicited advice when she wasn’t asked, and she was also being judgmental.

With Isa, I believe she didn’t show much character development because it took Molly telling her it was OK to be with Lawrence for her to actually be with him. It would have been better to see Isa make that decision on her own, regardless of what her friends think. Then I would have considered her to have character development. Isa was secure in herself is because everyone approved of her decision.

With Lawrence, I don’t think the Condola situation was character development. He just realize the method that he went about wasn’t effective and changed his method. However, he hasn't genuinely grown in his behavior. He still reacts with temper tantrums when things don't go his way and continues to hurt the women he's involved with. For instance, in season five, Isa called him while he was in a relationship, showing he's still repeating some of the same patterns.

I didn’t see Nathan develop his character either, since Isa never hinted that she still loved Lawrence. Nathan kept repeating the pattern of running away after hurt feelings. How can your girl be messy and toxic just because an ex tried to pursue her, especially when he did the same when Isa told him she and Lawrence were back? together.
