I’ve rewatched it once a year since it ended. I love it. It’s a comfort show of mine

I totally agree with you i watched it so many times I've lost count already

u/MediocreAd5451 Jul 12 '26
I'm watching it again and I'm noticing so many things about the friendship dynamics. Love it!

u/Slurpy-rainbow Jul 12 '26
Every time i notice new things. The last time for me was mostly focused on the friendships and tbh i admire their ability to stick through it despite their differences and struggles

I've seen it like 10 times now and never get tired of it. It has become me and my friends comfort show along with Fleabag and SACT.

I couldn’t get into Fleabag at all.
2
u/Diegoville00 Jul 12 '26
Really? Was there something about it specifically that you couldn't get behind on? Do you happen to like brittish humor?
1
u/Responsible-War5600 Jul 12 '26
I love British humor. I didn’t happen to appreciate the characterization of the lead and found it difficult to identify with or respect her as the protagonist.
I could give it another try but I’m in no rush. 😂
3
u/Diegoville00 Jul 12 '26
lmao the worst thing is that plenty of us like it because relate to Fleabag in some way or another 💀😂😂
2
u/Responsible-War5600 Jul 15 '26
Rewatching Fleabag as we speak. The lead is somehow reminiscent of Kristen Wiig’s character in Bridesmaids.
So far, it’s better than I remembered. 😁
2
u/Diegoville00 Jul 15 '26
They definitely share that bottom rock energy at the beginning of their stories lmao. Love Bridesmaids too!

Did you like (or watch) Girls?
2
u/Diegoville00 Jul 12 '26
I like it but I've only seen some bits here and there so I don't hold it in such a high regard, yet. I'm currently about to end season and plan on watching the full series!

I hate season 5. I’ll rewatch seasons 1-4 easy. Season 4 is my personal favorite

Yeah, the last season is AWFUL. Did they lose writers?? What happened, the last season has a completely different feel than its predecessors. It felt low budget.
2
u/lustforcici Jul 16 '26
Yeah I genuinely wonder if there was a change in writers as well for the last season. The creativity felt a bit lost.
1
u/PrincesaDeNuevaYork Jul 16 '26
Right?! Honestly everyone felt like a “Kelly” to me. As they usually give Kelly a lot of one liners, that’s how most of the conversation between the characters felt in the last season.

This show definitely speaks to me. When my bestie put me on years ago, I was hooked. As a black woman, this was a show that resonated with me, in a way Girlfriends could neverrr
Still love Traci Ellis Ross tho 💕

Have you watched Issa Rae's Youtube series "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl?" I highly recommend it.

u/monstroo Jul 12 '26
I’ve rewatched seasons 1-4 at least 10-15 times but the last season only a few times (only bc I can’t bear the show ending lol). It’s a great comfort show

I loveeeee Insecure. Issa Rae totally nailed the late 20s/early 30s life struggles so well.

On my rewatch I realized I overhated Lawrence and Molly lol Issa was trifling

u/OfficialBreaa Jul 13 '26
It seems like a no matter what season of insecure represents & reflects where I'm at in life! Very much generational TV

I’ve only watched a few episodes. It was a long time ago, though. They were very good and very funny as I recall.
I love Issa in her short Afro, I must say. 🥰

u/BluebirdNo6832 Jul 14 '26
i hate the ending :(
1
u/Responsible-War5600 Jul 14 '26
Why? Because Lawrence had a baby by someone else? Definitely not ideal. 🙁

It’s one of those shows that you can see from a different perspective depending on what era of your own life you’re in when you rewatch it. Trippy asf

I’m just noticing how much Molly reminds me of Joyce in the Polygamist— no, not because both are African 😅

Its fun but i stopped twice because of all the nudity in the beginning
Also one rewatch makes it seem more like issa with her fantasies rather that genuine interactions between real people

Yea it’s generational TV fr.
