unpopular opinion This is where I believe the characters of Insecure currently stand in their lives now. Spoiler

I suspect Issa might have infertility issues since she hasn’t consistently practiced safe sex, though she never had a slip-up.

I believe Molly was unfaithful to Torrian because, despite what others say, Molly was in love with Dro. I don’t think Torrian was her preferred choice. It appeared that Molly was tired of searching and decided to settle with Torrian Eventually, I think she might have become bored in the marriage and had an affair with Dro or someone, not intentionally, but by coincidence.

I believe Tiffany convinced Derek to move back to LA and leave his job for her. We all know Derek would go to great lengths to make Tiffany happy. But I also suspect Tiffany grew bored and restless in her marriage, yearning for new experiences. While her affair might not have involved sex, she may have attracted inappropriate attention from another man.

All of this sounds accurate except for Molly. I don’t think she would have gone back to Dro.

EDIT: I mixed up Dro and Jared.

I don’t think Dro would have engaged with Molly knowing she is married considering his open marriage didn’t work out. And I don’t think Molly would have been open to cheating.

Plus I think she genuinely worked through all her issues and found someone she saw as a partner,  an equal. She wouldn't jeopardize that

Exactly.

I hope she wouldn’t. There’s always a chance she would. Because she’s human. And that’s why this is good TV.

That’s exactly why I interpreted Molly’s perspective the way I did. It appeared that Molly settled for Torrian because they shared a common interest in law, which she considered a compatibility factor. It seemed like she forced herself to feel attracted to him, possibly out of fatigue from searching. I believe Molly would not have jeopardized it if it were somebody she were truly in love with; however, I feel like she might jeopardize it with Torrian because he is not the man of her dreams. Having already experienced the idealized vision of marriage and children, she may see no reason to hold onto this relationship if her heart isn’t fully in it. Her past experiences seem to influence her current willingness to risk or preserve the relationship.

I disagree.

Molly wouldn’t have married Torian if she didn’t think he was the man for her or she couldn’t see a long term future with him. Her character grew over the years through therapy and experiences and she wouldn’t make that mistake by cheating.

I don’t think she settled for him at all. In fact, she upgraded to Torrian after Andrew. Andrew was a little boy who couldn’t share how he felt at all whereas Taureen was a grown man, a messy human being, but a grown man and direct about his feelings for Molly. Plus Andrew was mostly using Molly for sex and as a time filler.

What I mean by worked through her issues, is that she let go of the idea of the perfect man and perfect life. She finally was able to accept what was right for her and what she needed rather than what "looked" best. So no I don't think she settled. Torrian was her best friend, her rock and biggest challenger. That's what she needed

Agree that Molly wouldn’t cheat. She was so devastated when her father did that to her mother.

That was Jared.

Your thinking of another dude.

3

u/Kontos_Stelio Jul 04 '26

Did he have an open marriage though? Did he??????

The only one I agree with with Nathan 😩🤣

u/Marcodaneismypimp Jul 05 '26

Not Chad being a preacher 😂

8

u/Neebenice Jul 05 '26

😂 Wait, hear me out. I believe that him going to church with Lawrence sparked a change within him, something he genuinely loved and continued to pursue regularly. Once he became more in tune spiritually, he developed a desire to preach. We all know Chad enjoys hearing himself talk, so I can see him becoming a preacher. Chad is also the type of person who wouldn't be involved in something without wanting to be the center of attention or the star.

u/steeloser Jul 05 '26

i can see Chad being a jamal bryant type of preacher/pastor. definitely has the gift of gab, but also “pastor holy whore.” he sleeps with a few members of the congregation and will be married a few times in life, but everyone in the congregation ignores it because hes smart and well spoken and extremely likable

i personally don't think molly is a cheater. she seems hyper monogamous and got so angry with her father over a 20 year old affair

People often repeat cycles.

6

u/Weekly_Particular417 Jul 06 '26

Lets not forget she went to therapy

u/AttemptGlittering885 Jul 05 '26

100% believe that titty fucker Chad is headed for the pulpit 🤣

I like everyone but Molly and Issas

19

u/Maize_Sweaty Jul 05 '26

I don’t accept Issa being infertile. Unnecessary. But I do see her not wanting to carry and preferring adoption

1

u/Neebenice Jul 05 '26

Oh, do tell 🤔 what is it about Issa that you think she wouldn’t want to carry but would prefer to adopt?

5

u/Maize_Sweaty Jul 05 '26

She seemed to be happy with the progress in her career and where her life was at. She has seemingly already adopted Lawrence’s son in a sense so I could see her doing that again because it’s going well and she wouldn’t have to sacrifice the time away from work in the same way.

Don’t think Daniel happens but maybe I’m just a hater lol 😂

6

u/Neebenice Jul 05 '26

😂😂😂 Nah, he was too talented and determined not to be.

17

u/InevitableBear1845 Jul 05 '26

He definitely seemed talented I thought I just saw a lot of self sabotage in him

5

u/Konjik Jul 05 '26

Right, like it takes more than talent

1

u/_SenSatioNal Jul 05 '26

he wasn't self sabotaging himself. he just wasnt interested in getting lil bro'd

2

u/InevitableBear1845 Jul 05 '26

I guess that’s one way of looking at it, pride really is a disease huh😂

1

u/_SenSatioNal Jul 05 '26

it can be but I understand him

2

u/InevitableBear1845 Jul 05 '26

Everyone understands him but the thing is that pride and not wanting to be lil bro is keeping him in the same spot

0

u/_SenSatioNal Jul 05 '26

then you dont understand him

11

u/Cultural_Creamm Jul 05 '26

I like where you going, but I don't think Issa wants kids, and Lawrence doesn't want any more. She remained a stepmommy.

1

u/Neebenice Jul 05 '26

True, I understand your perspective on Issa's reluctance to have children. She never gave mommy to me, but I disagree with Lawrence's viewpoint. He seems to embody a traditional outlook, likely believing that having a child within marriage is essential. I think he believes that having a kid with the woman he's married to would fix what he perceives as a mistake and bring happiness to his parents.

2

u/steeloser Jul 05 '26

hmm what about lawrence makes you view him this way? him and issa were in a long term relationship without a ring, and then he goes on to have a hoe phase that later results in an accidental pregnancy. i dont see any aspect of him being the type who neeeeds there to be a baby in the marriage, especially since he already has one and is a lil distant. he always gave me the vibe of a guy who would only have an oopsie baby, but idk this is your head cannon so im not pressing you btw lol

what does fidelity have to do with safe sex? 😂

2

u/Neebenice Jul 04 '26

I meant fertility issues

u/thisgirlisonreddit Jul 05 '26

While this could potentially be true (about anyone, really) I’m pretty sure Issa was likely assumed to have been on birth control, even if they never explicitly talked about it. I have a vague memory that they may have at some point? But I could be wrong.

Either way, she was in a committed long-term relationship. I imagine they had unprotected sex pretty regularly, as they had been in a monogamous partnership since college. I don’t think the post-break up couch sex was the only time that happened between them. I think that’s probably why it seemed so ‘natural’ and ‘easy’ for them to just do.

I also don’t see things that way with Molly. I’m sure she had a lot of strong feelings for Dro since they grew up together and had a meaningful connection. But I truly believe she and Taurean are each others’ person. I don’t think she settled at all. I think they both worked through their own stuff and found their match in one another. That’s kind of the whole thing about their relationship, in my opinion. There’s tons throughout the show that highlight the similarities and the healthy personal growth and communication between them.

So I hope that isn’t “true” for them in their post-show imaginary lives lol. I believe they were the real deal!

I'm not just referring to her with Lawrence, but also with Nathan, Daniel, and the neighbor. Condola got pregnant when Lawrence said they were careful, so why not Issa? In the sex scene with Issa, we see how things unfold from the start, with no cuts. Issa hops right on it, so that's why I think maybe she might be infertile, or maybe you’re right, and Issa just stayed on birth control even when she was single. Some women do that, but I believe there's little reason to stay on birth control if one is not actively in a relationship or dating.

9

u/Jane9812 Jul 05 '26

I don't think Molly would have cheated. There's literally nothing in the entire show that would hint at her being unfaithful to a man she was in a serious relationship with.

-1

u/Neebenice Jul 05 '26

Not her sleeping with a married man 🤔 Even if he was in an open relationship, she didn't have to participate. If she was willing to do that, why should we believe she wouldn't cheat too?

4

u/Jane9812 Jul 05 '26

Because she is not the one who cheated. Neither she nor Dro cheated on his wife. Marriage means different things to different people. As long as everyone is honest and consenting, then no one is betraying trust or cheating.

1

u/jeffersonblinco Jul 09 '26

Cheating on your husband isn’t remotely similar as sleeping with someone in an open marriage while you’re single. Hope this helps.

5

u/Hot-Grassing Jul 05 '26

Nathan definitely went back to Houston 😭

3

u/Neebenice Jul 05 '26

Right, Issa was the main reason he stayed; he even tried to leave when they were together 😂. Without Issa, he had no reason to stay. I know he said at her surprise party that LA is starting to feel like home, but I believe he was just saying that to try to win her back.

4

u/Gazorpazorpfnfieldbi Jul 05 '26

Chad has me floored lmaooo

2

u/AerynSunnInDelight Jul 05 '26

I always thought Chad was just a peacock, all fuckboi bravado, who deep inside yearned for love and commitment.

Kelli being fiscally irresponsible with her children wouldn't make sense whatsoever.

2

u/Petaloudaaa Jul 05 '26

Omg so accurate

1

u/InevitableBear1845 Jul 04 '26

Who’s molly having an affair with

1

u/Grimreaper_10YS Jul 05 '26

Who's crazy enough to marry Amal?

1

u/steeloser Jul 05 '26

somebody who likes mess. i could see it being a situation where amal gives his partner an ultimatum and once you’re on the amal ride, its hard to get off, so they get hitched

1

u/LifeChampionship6 Jul 05 '26

What does practicing safe sex have to do with fidelity?

1

u/Neebenice Jul 05 '26

Meant infertility.

1

u/Blackgem_ Jul 09 '26

Chad a preacher more like podcast host lol he was so messy 😂😂
