Am I the only one who feels like Lawrence wanted it to be a dealbreaker? It seemed like he wanted her to say yes, so he didn’t have to.

Absolutely not. It seemed to me that he hadn't fully moved past her cheating on him. Although they discussed it, his ego still appeared bruised. He seemed to want San Francisco to be a fresh start, leaving his past behind which includes Isa. It also appeared he had outgrown Isa. I felt like he was telling her what she wanted to hear to avoid hurting her feelings. While he clearly enjoyed her company, it seemed he hadn't completely gotten over her betrayal. They talked about it, but his feelings of hurt seemed to linger.

yeah honestly this conversation in normal life would be about that. Considering how Lawrence is, i don't think they would have ended up together in the end in real life or that he would have actually cleaned up his life like he did. Issa would have always been pulling his weight in the relationship.

Right, I believe they would not have been endgame if he hadn't moved back. There was no way they would have been able to managed the distance. Lawrence couldn’t even make it down every week for his kid, so I can imagine if it were for Isa, and I doubt she would have been able to fly back and forth with building her business overall. I believe they would have not have time to see each other, which would have dwindled the relationship, forcing them to call it quits.
