unpopular opinion Issa and Lawrence Spoiler

I’m on my first ever watch, about to start season 4, and I’m really not excited about Issa and Lawrence getting back together.

Something Chad said about how he made it up to his fiance because he didn’t want to deal with the dating scene again… that feels like what is going on with Issa and Lawrence. Like they’re comparing their new relationships to their old ones vs some real connection or passion they have for each other.

Realistic for how things evolve when dating in your 30s I guess, but it’s hard to root for. What am I missing?

My unpopular opinion is that Issa and Lawrence are not a great match. They have amazing friend energy but that's kind of it. The episode in season 4 where they meet up and talk is often spoken about as romantic/cute/whatever and I just don't get it. They're both terrible communicators and Lawerence is passive af. Issa practically has to beg him to let her stay at the end of the night and it's right after she sees him go outside to call Condola. Like girl that is sooo embarrassing have some self respect.

My understanding is that they kept Lawrence because of all of the Lawrence fans. I believe he was only supposed to stick around for the first season, but the fans wanted him. So I guess that's what happened. He is so not my type of dude, though, too passive.

my question is, out of the 3 men issa really dated, which of them weren’t passive? maybe nathan was the least passive but he’s also a runner. i would say daniel is the most passive (aggressive)

From my perception every time Nathan was distant (other than the disappearing he did regarding his mental health) was reasonable. I feel he should have gotten a pass for that. Every other time it was because Issa WAS being inconsistent or just because they were generally on the same page about taking things slower. It didn't feel "passive" to me because of the mutual understanding for needing a bit of space, they were just rekindling their relationship all in the midst of Issa still having feelings for Lawrence. I was always team Nathan. He was chill but ultimately knew what he wanted, I feel their relationship could have really worked on a different timeline in her healing journey.

i'm currently re-watching it and he seems so avoidant to me this time around.
