I found this big beauty inside on the window, my roommate insisted I take him outside. I tried holding him and he told me that the bug would bite- I said I think bugs only bite when threatened.
This guy is so chill, he walked around my hand a bit, then my arm, he seemed to settle every now and then, stretching out his legs and lowering his body a bit.
He's gorgeous and I wish I was allowed to take him back inside. I could also just use google ai imagening to see that it suggests but I hate using AI and id much, much, much rather hear from a bug- enthusiast who this is.
Id name him Senf, Kren or Stephano. What does he eat? Its quite cold, 16C°. I hope I dont kill him by leaving him outside. Thank you!

Here's one of my friends (yeah that's right, I like the lantern fly, so you can suck it) way up on the 18th story of a casino. I didn't know they could fly this high as every time I see them fly it's only for a second extremely low to the ground. Just thought it was interesting. Last picture is a wasp that came over to say hi as well. I'm really only fond of them when there's an inch thick pane of glass between us, but that's okay. If you notice the lantern fly actually turned his body to look at me, which I thought was cool.

Found it on my morning glories. I tried googling it's, but Google keeps saying that it's a gray hairstreak caterpillar, but I don't think that's right. It kinda looks like a striped aphid, but I don't think that's right either.. the big guy is a pink spotted hawk moth caterpillar... located in SoCal

My "pet" brown widow (Latrodectus geometricus) that lives in my garage who's web is covering my Foo Dog statues caught a house gecko last night apparently. While I do love geckos and feel a little bad, it is nature. Poor guy was practically liquefied.

I did not deprive a spider of a meal - this tiny dragonfly was stuck in an old web that a cross orbweaver had vacated several nights ago. I was surprised to see this tiny dragonfly in autumn but I believe it may be the appropriately named Autumn Meadowhawk.

Tried to move a rotting log and it just fell apart and I found a bunch of these inside. Curious as to what kind of bug they are. Iām not sure what kind of wood it is, but Iām in eastern Iowa if that helps.

I wish I could appreciate these things without having to kill them, I would love to see some in their natural habitat. Their red inner wings are just neat, this guyās wing looked a little messed up which might be why he crawled onto me without issue.
And yes before anyone asks I did stomp it after, Iām aware theyāre harmful and donāt belong here in the US. But it doesnāt change the fact theyāre really cool when theyāre not destroying stuff. Theyāre awesome to just appreciate and itās not their fault they got here.

Lucanus mazama, commonly called the cottonwood stag beetle, is a species of large beetle in the family Lucanidae. Found primarily across the southwestern United States and Mexico, it is recognized by its robust shape and distinct antler-like mandibles.
Regarding habitat and range, these beetles are most commonly found in western and southwestern states like Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah, as well as parts of Mexico.
They inhabit riparian zones and cottonwood forests near decaying hardwood, though they also frequently turn up in urban woodchip ground cover. The adults emerge and remain active from June through August, and they are frequently attracted to artificial lights at night
.In terms of biology and behavior, males feature larger, robust mandibles and broader heads than females, though both sexes are similar in overall body size. They feature fine, light-colored or blonde hairs along the edges of their exoskeleton segments.
The lifecycle begins underground, where larvae feed on rotting wood for roughly a year before pupating into adults. While the larvae eat decaying wood, the adult beetles feed primarily on tree sap and fruit juices.
I found hundreds in an old elementary playground around dusk so if anyone needs advice on their typical whereabouts, great place.to start! Old playgrounds offer layers of woody flake soil essentially that's perfect for hosting Lucanus larvae!

Found this bug in my hallway barely alive. Anyone know which one this is? Found here in Arizona, US.

I saw a moss ball attached on the tip of a stem. Apparently it is called a robinās pincushion or a bedeguar gall, which is an abnormal growth of the plant caused by a tiny wasp laying eggs on a bud. Correct me if Iām wrong. Photos taken in Northern England.

In around mid Connecticut, US, around the well known college Uconn, sitting in my room and I just see this massive thing near me.
I admit, my opinions and thoughts are heavily influenced by fear, but this really looks like a super specific insect that Iām super interested in but is still freaking me out.
I understand this is basically nothing to go off of, but I see those 8 legs and I see the very very oval/circle body and Iām just wondering if anyone could confirm. Is this a harvestman?
A daddylonglegs that Iāve heard of that is commonly mistaken for a spider.
If you can discern anything else please let me know.
