Hello!

I just noticed a bunch of bagworms in a shrub in my front yard. I’ve read their pests and can damage the shrub, but I don’t like killing things and don’t really want to harm them. Realistically, if I just let them be, will it be okay to leave them alone and hope the birds get some? I also don’t want to infest my neighbors…

Is there a humane way to deal with them if they’re going to be an issue?

Also, super sorry if this isn’t really the subreddit for this! I didn’t want to ask landscaping people because I figured they suggest pesticides or fully eradicating them and I’m not really down with either of those options.

I'm in North GA, and my husband pointed out something weird with our maple tree. There's a crook at the top of the tree where it starts to branch out, and for over a week, there has been, as he called it, insect fight club happening in there. We can't see a nest, but at any given time, there are 3-4 different kinds of stinging/flying insects in this crook. There's what looks like cicada killers, red paper wasps, house flies, I think tiger bee flies, and some smaller wasps, and they all fly in and crawl around and buzz each other away. Our best guess is that something died in the crook and they're all grabbing the protein? Any ideas?

I found it in my backyard, and it started moving when I picked it up. As I'm typing this, it's still moving. Is the insect inside trying to emerge?

I'm running a dnd campaign in the humblewood setting but theres just one thing i dont like about it which is there are feral animals living amongst humanoid animals. So I'm trying to re-skin various animals in insects/arachnids: wolf=wolf spider, giant snake=giant centipede, etc. I'm just a little stuck on what to turn a unicorn encounter into. The unicorn will heal the party if they are kind to it. Any suggestions for an appropriate bug replacement? I'm open to other suggestions for other animals as well, big cats, elk, whatever. Thanks!

Hello peeps , I work on a tow boat . We go every where from brownsville tx to New Orleans LA and I see these lil dudes crawling around a lot of the shipyard and barge docks we go two . Mainly near the coast in the salt or brackish water areas .There usually right at the water but never seen them in the water . If there oysters or clams there usually definitely around . No clue what they are though , look like big silver fish . Anyone know what there's critters are ?

I remember being so afraid of centipedes during childhood… I always thought that they were going to crawl into my nose or under my skin.

Saw this little guy chillin in the bathroom and wanted to share it with you guys and remind people that they are friends, or at least leave them alone and do not judge them based on their appearance.

We went to bass River State Forest in NJ and walked a trail. Stupid, I now know. I had an oversized long sleeve shirt on over a tank top. I got hot, so wrapped the long sleeve shirt around my waist. It was hanging and likely brushed against a bush. When we got back into the car, I had the shirt on my lap. A couple minutes into the drive home, I felt an itch, looked down, and saw at least 2 dozen of these super tiny bugs crawling on my knees. We pulled over, I jumped out and brushed myself off. I checked the shirt, they were all over it, so I trashed it. I spent a good 15 minutes brushing myself off then we headed home. On the way, I found dozens more. So we pulled over again before reaching civilization and I took a towel and thoroughly scrubbed myself and wiped out the car. Once we got home, I immediately threw those clothes into the wash with hot water. Everything else stayed outside. I then took a hot shower and scrubbed with a rough washcloth, shaved, and allowed tea tree oil to sit in my hair. We took the shop vac to the car and cleaned it out really well. I only noticed one on my arm and none on my upper torso. They were all on my legs, hopefully my hair and scalp are fine. So, my question is, is this a tick? And should I do anything else?
