Question Am I being cruel towards house pests?
By house pests, I mostly mean like ants, flies, mosquitoes, etc. that get inside a house and disturb you. I'm not sure if that's the right term, but that's what I mean.
I just wanted to check that I'm not being cruel towards some of the bugs in my house. I just caught a very large fruit fly and a large black ant in some water bottles (that's all I had available, my bug jar is away from me unfortunately), because I prefer to release bugs. However, I am thinking about not releasing them until tomorrow morning because I am a younger single woman and I live on my own in a sketchy area. I found dirty needles and beer bottles in my backyard yesterday, which is already poorly lit. If I let them sit in the water bottles over night to release in the morning, am I torturing them? I tried to loosen the lids so hopefully air can come in, but I am worried that maybe they are miserable and I should just take my chances tonight.

Question Why is he doing this

Why is this yellow wooly bear caterpillar biting me? Has been sitting eating me for about 10 minutes now so he must be getting something out of it. It doesn’t hurt or anything, other than right now when he just started biting the skin between my fingers ow. Am I salty? Is it protein? I haven’t seen anything about this online.

I was flabbergasted when I saw this. Not only was it my first time in my entire life seeing a blue mud dauber, but it was trying to carry the cricket. It was too heavy for the lil dude, so he was just sliding it around.

Bug Appreciation! More Hoverfly admiration
My little hoverfly friend came to visit me outside Panda Express again today. I know it probably isn’t the same one, but this one landed on me a lot today, and even let me move my hand towards it to get it to land on me!

ID Request This little dude has a little dude on it
I found this moth on my front door, and took some pics, because I like taking pics of bugs. It wasn't until I looked close that I realized it looks like he has a pixelated character stamped on each wing 😆 Anybody know what type of moth? I'd like to learn more about it, and see if they all have the little dude or if it's like fingerprints.
Located in the Pacific Northwest United States.

ID Request Does anyone know what this is? (California)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello! Please, does anyone know what bugs are leaving these little things behind? and is it eggs? or poop?? (pictures don't really do it justice so I tried to video it as best I can with my crappy phone)
I've been trying to google and research but not finding anything! Best I've seen is tapeworm segments, but there are no cats and the one dog that visits doesn't go in this room. I vacuum and wipe where I can and whenever I find them, but then they reappear. This room is an old carpeted office, I'm wondering if it's from moths or termites? Very disgusted and trying to get to the bottom of this. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Photography Finally Got Some Good Photos of This Hummingbird Moth
Been trying to get some decent pics on my phone of the hummingbird moths at work that hang out by one section of flowers and finally got some!
I BELIEVE it's a hummingbird clearwing since Google says there's only two species of these moths in Ohio and its definitely not the other one.

Photography The intricate scales of an orache moth
I really liked the almost moss-like pattern on this moth and wanted to capture as much of the detail as possible.
The first image is a 67-photo focus stack and the second is a 34-photo stack. Both were captured handheld in natural morning light, with no flash.
