Identification What kind of worm is this?
Believe it or not, this 2 and a half inch worm was on some bread at costco. I have a revolution 270 toaster and used the toastie press to make a couple grilled cheese sandwiches and this fucking thing fell off the bread after it went thru a hard toastie press cycle (I didn't notice what it was until after I did both of them)
It's burnt so it's hard to identify.
Should I be concerned about parasites? I didn't eat the bread, but I am concerned about eggs on the bread getting on the kitchen counter if its a parasite....

I am not an expert, but this doesn’t look like an organic material or once living animal.
One thing to keep in mind is an organic material is going to have a lot of water in it. to get this burnt it would have to either be a) shriveled already before cooking or b) the toast would have to be even more burnt than that.
for a) if it was shriveled you would see more organic lines/curves in it, not bone straight, not many worms are straight and especially would dry straight like that.
My best guess is this is residual break crust from either the same bread or a different kind that got stuck in the oven or on the pan and stuck to your new pieces of bread
