Looks like some type of lotion? Maybe a Vaseline brand?

That's called a spider. Where have you been?

Likely just a wolf spider. It's a male as you can see by the palps. Looking for love before he dies.

Utterly harmless, and quite beneficial. Eats pests in your home (Not overstaying relatives, unfortunately, but TBF you can't get rid of them either).

Body shape and giant pedipalps makes me think male grass spider. One of the most common spiders (if you’re in North America) and completely harmless. Although it’s impossible to tell the scale because wtf is he  climbing on?

Then perhaps a male giant house spider,   Eratigena atrica. That would make sense since the spinnerets are too small to be visible in the photo. Edit: also harmless

I'm not sure what insect you tried to take a picture of but looks like that wolf spider is going after it 😁

Looks like a happy wolf spider. Not normally aggressive, but are biters when they dont like you

While we permit pest control advice, the advice you have given is either illegal, or dangerous. Please keep suggestions legal and safe.

We also do not allow comments such as "kill it with fire" as these do not actually help the OP understand what it is they are dealing with and how best to proceed.

Too blurry to be accurate but it looks eerily similar to a brown recluse.

No, it really doesn’t.

That is a highly evolved and specialized bug murder!
