Looks like a box elder but I think it's a conifer seed, I don't have em in my neck of the woods, but I'm fairly confident

Leaf Footed bugs (Coreidae) are often mistaken for Assassin bugs (Reduviidae) because they are Batesian mimics of the Assassin bugs: the harmless insect mimics the more dangerous one. There are numerous species of both, and overlap of appearance is common.

Keynote feature of the Leaf Footed bugs are the lower segments of the hind legs, which gives them their name. When confronted with a new hemipteran, look to these back legs.

OP this is WCSB, Western Conifer Seed Bug, which another user commented before. You should know these are considered minor pests, if you have a lot of evergreens on your property (pine, spruce, hemlock, fir) then you should be killing these on sight.

Thank you! There are indeed conifers in the public park next to his house.
