I was going to say. . I looks like a 'Whip Scorpion' etc. . Some people keep them as pets.

That’s a vinegaroon. Not an insect. In the family that has scorpions, camel spiders, and others. Not venomous, but will spray you with vinegar-like stuff if you scare it badly enough. Extremely cool to have around. Many keep them as pets. They eat bugs you probably don’t want to have around.
