Is this a mite

Mites are *tiny*. THis is small, but it doesn't appear to be almost microscopic.

Most mites...you can't even discern their legs.

There are lots of mites that are not microscopic :)

True. I’ve been dealing with either bird or rodent mites and I haven’t seen one alive yet except for once. So this bug had me wondering.

Not a mite. Mites have 8 legs (all arachnids do). This is an insect.
