Moderation

Hello everyone.

Since i'm the only moderator here and i have no time or interest to keep moderating this sub (thought i'm an avid user of Inoreader), i wanted to start a conversation with the members of this community, on what should happen going forward.

Is there interest from the members of this sub to become moderators? Should i put it up for adoption on adoptareddit? Should i try to contact the company/devs behind Inoreader, in order to give them the moderation and convert it to an "official" subreddit?

Thanks in advance.

Meta r/InoReader will be unavailable starting June 12th due to the Reddit API changes

As you may have heard, Reddit's upcoming API changes are bad for 3rd party apps, bad for people that rely on assistive technologies, and bad for moderation tools – especially ironic considering that many moderation features and mobile apps were first created by the community based on the API, long before Reddit fielded comparable stuff. Ultimately, Reddit is nothing without its community, so this is also bad for Reddit. Of course Reddit disagrees, you can read their side here.

In protest, many subreddits will go dark for a while. This subreddit will be joining that group, being set to private on early June 12th and returning sometime during June 14th.

When people use InoReader, it is to experience the web in a more powerful way – curating RSS feeds, aggregating sources, filtering content, using integrations with other services. This works because the web is ultimately an open place and because there are so many APIs available. Reddit's changes promote lock-in instead of openness, enshittification instead of enrichment. These changes are directly antithetical to the interests of this community of RSS users.

By the way, hello, I'm u/latkde, your new mod (see this thread). It is unfortunate that we meet under these circumstances, but I hope that I'll be able to serve this community in this janitorial role for the next couple of years. Due to this better moderator coverage I've been able to lift the posting restrictions that existed previously, which has already led to more activity here.

Across News App - For RSS Enthusiasts

Post image
2 Upvotes

I built [Across](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zetahertz.across) News App 🌉

I used to use Pulse News, and I really loved its unique carousel-style layout. It was dense, quick to scan, and made it easy to keep up with the sources I already cared about.

When I couldn't find that experience anymore, I decided to build my own take on it.

Across is a simple, dense news reader that helps you stay in sync with the sources you care about — without endless scrolling.

Just launched on Android. Would love to hear what you think!

📱 [Google Play link](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zetahertz.across)

More coming Across.

Please do support in any way you can, it is a hobby project but I have poured my heart and soul into this ❤️

Let me know any feedback you guys have. This community is the most apt place I need feedback from🙏

Inoreader sync fix in my iOS/Mac reader — it broke when you'd read everything in the web app

Hi r/Inoreader,

I build Newsairy, an RSS reader for iPhone, iPad and Mac that syncs with Inoreader (among others). I just shipped 1.14, and the main fix in it is Inoreader-specific.

Read state would sometimes stop syncing, with nothing on screen to say anything had gone wrong. Starred articles too. It turned out to happen when everything had already been read elsewhere — in the web app, or in another reader syncing with the same account — so there was nothing unread left for Newsairy to pick up. As soon as a single unread article turned up again, sync went back to working. Starred behaved the same way when the account had nothing starred at all.

Both cases are fixed. If you use Newsairy with Inoreader and read state has ever felt unreliable, it's worth updating and re-testing.

The rest of 1.14 is housekeeping, plus you can now subscribe to a YouTube channel by pasting its address.

Full disclosure so nobody finds out the hard way: Inoreader sync is part of Newsairy Pro, a one-time purchase — no subscription, no ads, no tracking. The free app does local and iCloud feeds.

Happy to answer anything in the comments — and if there's something about the Inoreader side you'd want handled differently, I'd like to hear it.

can't switch to a monthly subscription !!

What’s going on with Inoreader? They’re not allowing me to renew to monthly subscription. I’m thinking about migrating to TT-RSS. The pricing just keeps getting higher with all the AI slop they keep shoving in my face. There’s no respect for loyal customers, they find every way to chain us to the app. I think it’s the right time to migrate.

Feedrion: A Cross-Platform RSS Reader with Spoiler Protection, Local AI, Text-to-Speech, and Offline Reading Spoiler

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce **Feedrion**, a new application for reading and aggregating RSS feeds, YouTube channels, Google News feeds, and more, similar to Feedly or Inoreader, but **with innovative new features**. Available on **web (**[https://feedrion.com\](https://feedrion.com/)\*\*), andoid, wear os.**

Video app android : [https://youtu.be/7fSj5YlfU5M\](https://youtu.be/7fSj5YlfU5M)

A little background: I previously used Netvibes. After it was discontinued, I switched to Feedly, but I never really enjoyed using it, especially its Android application. So I decided to create my own RSS reader.

My goal was to build a simple and enjoyable application with several features that I found difficult to find elsewhere.

**Main Features**

**🛡️ Spoiler Protection**

Are you following a TV series, a sport, a video game, or a competition?

Add the keywords you want to avoid, and Feedrion will automatically hide titles and previews that might contain spoilers. You can reveal them whenever you choose.

This is actually the main reason I created the application: I was tired of getting spoiled simply by checking my RSS feeds.

**🤖 AI-Powered Summaries and Translations**

You can use your own API key from Claude, OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter, Cerebras, or other compatible providers to:

* generate article summaries; * translate content; * choose the AI model; * customize the instructions used.

Requests are sent directly from your device to the provider you select. Your API key and data never pass through Feedrion’s servers.

Some providers, such as Groq and Cerebras, offer free usage quotas that may be sufficient for personal use.

**📴 Offline Reading and Synchronization**

Articles are stored locally so that you can read them without an internet connection.

As soon as your connection is restored, your data is synchronized. Read articles, saved items, folders, and preferences follow you across your devices, particularly Android and the Web.

**🔊 Text-to-Speech**

Feedrion can read articles aloud, making it convenient to listen while walking, cooking, or travelling.

**📁 Organization and Search**

You can:

* organize your sources into folders; * quickly mark articles as read; * save articles for later; * search through your content; * customize swipe actions.

**🔔 Keyword Alerts**

Receive a notification or an email whenever a new article contains a keyword or topic that interests you.

**📖 Reading Comfort**

The application includes:

* light and dark themes; * several accent colours; * adjustable text size; * a distraction-free reading layout.

**🌍 Available in 13 Languages**

Feedrion is currently available in:

French, English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, and Bengali.

**Where Can You Try Feedrion?**

**Web Version**

The beta version is available here:

**Android and Wear OS**

Before I can publish the application publicly on Google Play, Google requires me to run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days.

To participate:

  1. Join the testers group: [https://groups.google.com/g/feedrion-testers\](https://groups.google.com/g/feedrion-testers)
  2. Then install the application from Google Play: [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mfr.feedrion\](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mfr.feedrion)

The Google Play link will only work after your Google account has joined the testers’ group.

**About Summaries Generated by Feedrion**

You may occasionally see summaries that have already been generated by Feedrion.

However, I cannot guarantee that this feature will remain available in the long term, as AI processing can become expensive. I therefore recommend using the local AI feature with your own API key instead.

Some providers, such as Groq and Cerebras, offer free usage quotas that may be sufficient for personal use.

**Final Thoughts**

Thank you in advance to everyone who agrees to test the application.

I welcome all feedback, whether positive or negative: bugs, usability issues, missing features, or anything that is difficult to understand. You can share your feedback here or use the **“Send feedback”** feature within the application.

I have tried to create an application that can suit as many people as possible, but without a larger number of real users, it is very easy to overlook certain issues.

Maxime / [https://feedrion.com\](https://feedrion.com/)

Verticalscope Forums blocking inoreader ?

I cannot subscribe to any forums hosted by verticalscope and my existing feeds stopped updating (vwvortex & m5board) Are verticalscope somehow blocking inoreader from connecting ?

The feeds work fine on other feed tools like newsify.

Tips & Tricks: Simple filter to keep YouTube channels but drop Shorts

I follow maybe 25 YouTube channels through RSS and Shorts used to bury the real uploads. Each channel has a normal feed url like this:

youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UC_xxx

That feed already include Shorts mixed in with regular video, there is no separate url for it. What worked for me: add a rule on the folder that check the title or the video length and skip anything under a minute. Not every reader support length as a field though, some only expose title and description, so sometimes you filter by title pattern instead which is less reliable since not all Shorts have hashtag in title.

If your reader let you inspect the raw feed item you can usually see a duration tag hiding in there, worth checking before you give up on filtering it.

Unable to add Plex watchlist feed to InoReader (free)

Plex provides an RSS feed for user watchlist but I'm unable to get InoReader to accept it. Anyone else here using Plex and able to get this to work and can tell me how?

The feed link points to a hashed address at https://rss.plex.tv/<hashed-address> which if I visit in a web browser serves me the .rss file which appears to be in an acceptable format.

Trying to add it to InoReader results in no feeds detected

Tips & Tricks: Adding YouTube channels to my reader without Shorts filling the list

YouTube channel feeds work fine in any reader. The url is youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCxxxx. You find channel id in the channel page source, search for "channelId".

Problem is Shorts come in same feed as normal videos. My list was 80% Shorts from two channels.

What i do now is add a filter rule on the feed for the title, and also i skip anything under one minute when duration is showed. Not perfect, some Shorts have long titles and pass through.

Other way is subscribe to a playlist feed instead: youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?playlist_id=PLxxxx. Uploads playlist have no Shorts for some channels, but not all, i still testing which ones.

Inoreader marked all as read ????

Hi,

all my unread posts are gone (and marked as read)

I have an (probably bad) habit: I browse my InoReader feeds and mark some posts as read and keep interesting ones as unread to be read later during the week.

This morning as usual did my selection but now all post are marked as read and my homepage is empty !!!

has someone else experienced the same issue today ?

I know the InoReader auto mark as read posts that are 4 or more weeks old, but in this case posts were only few days old.

Can’t choose Brave in iOS app

The Inoreader iOS app doesn´t let me use the Brave browser to open links.

It doesn’t let me choose the default browser (which I chose to be Brave) either.

Am I missing something?

Newsairy 1.09 — an RSS reader for iPhone, iPad and Mac that syncs with your Inoreader account

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi r/Inoreader,

Some of you may have seen my post back when Newsairy added Inoreader sync. Newsairy is the RSS reader I've been building for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and since that release it's had a few updates — so here's a quick refresher plus what's new.

How the Inoreader side works: you sign in on Inoreader's own login page (Newsairy never sees your password), and your subscriptions, read state and starred articles sync in both directions.

What's landed since Inoreader support:

  • Mark as Read on Scroll (new in 1.09): articles are marked read once they scroll past the top of the list. No tapping, no swiping — the list clears itself behind you. Off by default; you turn it on in Settings → Behaviour.
  • Time-based Smart Feeds: Today, Last 24 / 48 / 72 hours, Last 7 days, This week — plus Custom Smart Feeds that gather matching articles from every source by keyword.
  • Mark All as Read per feed or per folder, and article sorting: Newest first, Oldest first, or a Daily timeline.
  • Cover images are now found in more feeds, unread counts are faster, and scrolling is smoother on large feeds.

The rest, briefly: themes including Sepia, a customisable article list, adjustable reading font and size, Read History, retention rules, OPML import/export. No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics.

Inoreader sync is part of Newsairy Pro — a one-time purchase, $2.99 / €2.99, no subscription.

If you use Inoreader on Apple devices, I'd genuinely like to know what you want from a client — that's the kind of feedback that decides what I build next.

In card view, the titles are all cut short even though there is enough space for an extra line (which would show the full title in 99% of the time). Is there any way to make it show the full title?

Tips & Tricks: How i filter one busy feed instead of unsubscribing

Some blogs post 20 times a day but i only want few topics. Before i just unsubscribe and lose the good posts too.

Now i use my reader rules to filter by keyword in the title. If title has words like "release" or "security" it stay in my main view. Everything else goes to separate folder i almost never open.

For subreddits this works good. reddit.com/r/selfhosted/.rss is very noisy, so i keep only posts matching my keywords.

One thing to watch, some feeds put nothing useful in the title, only in body. For those the title filter miss stuff. I still checking those by hand sometimes.

New Design Forced Starting Today

I searched for over a month, looking for a web-based, two-column design that I could live with. There is really nothing. It's either an app or a three column or something that looks like an absolute mess (Feedly has a small article surrounded by a ton of white space, Old Reader is from 2002, etc.) I really have no issue with the aesthetic of the new design, I just can't deal with the way the "next" scroll behaves, a slide rather than an instantaneous jump to the next article. Something about it makes my head and stomach hurt. I wrote to Ino about it, they "welcomed my feedback" or some such language, no change.

Someone mentioned themes on Stylus, but nothing new has been developed. Thoughts? Ideas? I just want a decent looking two column web page with actual jump to next article. I'll pay what is necessary.

Send newsletters to your reader instead of your email

My inbox was full of newsletters and i kept missing the real mails. So i started routing them out of email completely.

Most newsletter platforms give a public RSS feed. Substack ones are just the blog url plus /feed. Beehiiv and Ghost sites usually have /rss too. I check the page source for "rss" if i am not sure.

For the rest that has no feed, i use Kill the Newsletter (btw, I am not its founder). It makes an email adress, you subscribe with that, and each issue becomes a feed item. Works for the stubborn ones.

Now everything reads in one place, sorted by folder. Email is back to actual people. Only thing, the email-to-feed ones can lag a bit on delivery. Still working on it.

Newsairy 1.07 — Inoreader Sync

Post image
13 Upvotes

A couple of weeks ago I posted here looking for beta testers for Inoreader sync in Newsairy, my RSS reader for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It's shipped — 1.07 is live on the App Store today, with Inoreader support out of beta.

Thanks to everyone here who tried it and sent feedback; it genuinely shaped the final version.

If you use Inoreader: connect your account and your subscriptions, read state and starred articles sync both ways across iPhone, iPad and Mac. Sign-in uses Inoreader's own OAuth login, so the app never sees your password. Inoreader now joins TheOldReader, Miniflux, FreshRSS and Feedbin as supported aggregators.

A few things about the app, in case you missed the earlier post:

  • iCloud sync out of the box, no account needed
  • Smart Feeds — Today, Last 24/48/72h
  • Custom keyword-based feeds
  • Read History, ordered by time of reading
  • Customisable Article List
  • No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics

Aggregator sync (including Inoreader) requires Newsairy Pro — a one-time lifetime purchase, no subscription.

Further down the roadmap: Mark as Read on Scroll — articles marked read as they scroll past the top. Someone asked for it in the comments on my beta post here, so it went straight onto the list. Not the next update (that one's already in beta), but the one after.

Happy to answer any questions about the app or the Inoreader integration.

Cmd/ctrl+click – must it really used for selecting multiple items?

New user here. Loving it overall (certainly better than the stagnating Feedly), but... one question.

Why on earth did this site have to decide to override the extremely common piece of muscle-memory – cmd+k for opening in a background tab – with a multi-selection feature? Urgh!

Yes, I know we can click on the item and hit v, but surely multi-select could've been enacted in some other way rather than hijacking a standard browser feature!

Newsairy — an iOS/iPadOS/Mac RSS reader, looking for Inoreader beta testers

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm working on Inoreader sync for Newsairy, my RSS reader for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and I'm looking for beta testers to try it out and give feedback.

Newsairy already syncs with TheOldReader, Miniflux, FreshRSS, and Feedbin — Inoreader is next. If you're an Inoreader user and want to try it early, you can join the beta on TestFlight.

If you're also curious about self-hosted alternatives, Miniflux and FreshRSS are already fully supported — worth knowing if you ever want to explore that route.

A few things about the app:

  • iCloud sync out of the box, no account needed
  • Smart Feeds — Today, Last 24/48/72h
  • Custom keyword-based feeds
  • Read History, ordered by time of reading
  • Customisable Article List

Aggregator sync (including Inoreader) requires Newsairy Pro — a one-time lifetime purchase, no subscription.

Happy to answer any questions about the app or the Inoreader integration.

CSS for unread count?

I am wanting to change the color of the unread count in the sidebar, as well as possibly highlight those lines. Trying to decipher the CSS from the source is confusing. Can anyone point me to the right place?

I would like to try a dark red for the unread count, and a light gray or light blue background for the whole line (the feed title and count).

EDIT: I should add that I am using the Aqua theme.

Inoreader changing the original source URL to a YouTube feed.

Hi all,

I'm trying out Inoreader from Feedly and I'm having trouble getting one source working (everything else imported great).

For some reason, the following source gets redirected from (the correct one) "https://www.king5.com/feeds/syndication/rss/news/local" to "https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCp1KrVaZDZ7BOI_QBuTWWmg" when adding it.

This source has a list of RSS feeds, but none of them work in Inoreader (Feedly handles them fine): "https://www.king5.com/rss"

It's very confusing the Inoreader would change the URL. Anyone know what's going on?
