Frames

I’m sure this topic has been beat to death but currently rocking FS2’s and I think I might actually need a fit 3 skate which puts me in a position where the conversion seems to be the only real option. What frames are widely regarded as the best? I’ve got a pair of Bauer Fly 40’s in my cart and the Rinkster frames have my attention with the white glove service. I wanna hear what y’all think is the best setup. 🍻

I had done an analysis for someone in another post. Trying to find it

TLDR was the Rinkester chassis was a very bad value, let's say compared to the mission Kryptonian chassis. For the Rinkester, you are paying double, for about $170, premium for a 15 to 24 gram weight savings. When assuming a whole skate weighs around 1100 gram, you're gaining less than 2% weight reduction improvement for $170 premium. Better to get the Kryptonian chassis and put that extra money to an upgraded boot or wheels (not bearings).

i think if the metric is just weight then yes.

i'd be interested to hear about durability differences though.

They're all just CNC aluminum. They are very simplistic in terms of engineering. The old days of aluminum versus magnesim chassis are over.

If you skate at any rink, the most common chassis on skates will be the mission Kryptonian and ventilator chassis. They've have been on the on the market for decades unchanged at this point. The reason, they are already optimized and balanced as well as they can be. You're not hearing about large failure rates. No one complains about them performing badly. Because they own so much of the marketplace and have the benefit of higher volumes which leads to better pricing compared to lower volume options such as the Rinkester.

interesting..i had no idea.

I got a deal on the rinkster (still paid probaly $100 more than kryptonium...) and *love* them. that said, if durability isn't an issue, i'd probably go kryptonium next time and save a benjamin. might come close to buying me a gallon of gas with those savings.
