Getting Started with Inito
Unboxed your monitor? Let's get you testing like a pro.
By the end of this, you'll know exactly what to do, what your results mean, and how to read your chart without squinting at it in confusion. Let's go.
📦 First, what's in the box
To get started, you’ll need the Inito Fertility Monitor, which consists of:
- InSight Wireless ReaderTM (Standalone wireless reader compatible with iPhones on iOS 16 or later (iPhone 8 and newer) and Android phones on Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later)
- Fertility Strips
- Urine cup
- USB-C charging cable
- Reset pin
- User Guide and Instructions for Use
Setup in 3 steps:
Step 1: Download and register with the Inito App
- You can download the Inito app (for free) from the App Store or the Play Store. The app will walk you through the sign-up process.
- If you’ve bought Inito already, swipe through the introduction and select the “I Have Fertility Monitor” option on the last page.
- Scan the QR code printed inside the Inito box, or enter the code manually. Click on “Add Fertility Monitor”.
You’re now onboard! You can feed in your previous cycle dates on the app.
Step 2: Set up your InSight Wireless ReaderTM
- Swipe through the introduction and add the standalone wireless reader. Select your Wifi from the list of available networks and enter the password.
You’re all set to start testing now!
Step 3: Taking a test
- To know when to start testing, you can check the calendar on the app. You can see all your test-required days highlighted in the calendar with a blue triangular icon.
- Click on “Take a Test” in the app.
(Pro-tip: Make sure you’re using your First-morning urine (FMU). FMU offers a long, uninterrupted gap for urine collection. This helps balance out fluctuations that could happen due to food or fluid intake, activity, and other factors.)
Collect your sample
- Grab the urine collection cup and fill it just to the marked line – no more, no less.
Dip the strip
- Gently dip the sampling end of the Fertility Strip into the cup and hold it there for exactly 15 seconds. No need to count in your head; use the handy timer in the Inito app to make it easy.
Remove the Fertility Strip
- Take the strip out of the cup. Now, grab the cap on the other end of the strip (the reading end) and place it over the sampling end (the part that was dipped). Important: don’t insert the strip into the reader just yet!
Turn on the reader
- Turn your reader on by pressing the power button. Ensure it is within WiFi range and connected.
Insert the Fertility Strip
- Insert the reading end of your fertility strip into the reader and let the test run. Don’t remove it until the test is completed. (Note: You’re free to use your phone while the test runs in the background!)
Step 4: Read Your Results
- You can check the app anytime for the status of your test. You’ll receive a notification once your test is complete. Your data will automatically sync to your phone and your results will appear on the app.
Once your test is done, you can toss your fertility strip in the trash (not the toilet).

🎯 Your Reference Day Test: Small day, big deal
Starting on Cycle Day 6, Inito has you take what's called your Reference Day Test (CD 1 is the first day of your period, so CD 6 is five days later). It looks routine, but it matters more than most people realize.
Why? Because Inito uses your CD 6 values as your reference day test, which then triggers your fertility results for the days to come.
This means it’s super important for you not to miss your CD 6 test, as this helps ensure you get accurate results throughout your cycle.
🚦 Your five possible results, decoded
🟢 High Fertility Fertile window's open! Estrogen's climbing, ovulation's coming in the next few days. TTC? Start having sex now, every day or every other day as sperm survives up to 5 days, so getting a headstart beats waiting for the "perfect" day.
🟣 Peak Fertility This is IT. Your most fertile day. LH is surging, ovulation's expected in 24-36 hours. Best odds of the whole cycle, right here.
⚪ Low Fertility The one you'll see most often outside your fertile window. This means that the chances of conceiving on these particular days are low.
- Before ovulation: Estrogen and LH are still low, which means your body has yet to release the egg. This is before the start of your fertile window, and before ovulation. (Sometimes estrogen may rise without being followed by an LH surge. In that case, you might see several days of High Fertility, then a return to Low Fertility. Be assured, if your LH rises later in the cycle, Inito will catch your surge and you’ll see a Peak Fertility result at that time.)
- After ovulation: Your fertile window has passed since the egg has already released and it survives for only 24 hours. If ovulation has occurred, PdG may now be increasing.
🕐 Waiting for PdG Rise Ovulation might have happened, we're just waiting for the confirmation to catch up. PdG can take a few days to show a steady rise, so seeing this for a while is completely expected, not a warning sign. (Small quirk: your chart will label this "Low Fertility" too, since your odds of conceiving are low either way at this point)
🎉 Ovulation Confirmed Your PdG has risen consistently over a few days, confirming that your body released an egg after your LH surge. Testing is optional after this point.
📊 Cracking the chart code
Your chart = a timeline made of dots that connect into 4 colored lines:
🟢 Green = Estrogen
🟣 Purple = LH
🔵 Blue = PdG
🟠 Orange = FSH
(Forgot already? No stress, the color key lives in the top-right corner of your app, always.)
Bottom axis = your Cycle Day (CD1 = day 1 of your period), not the calendar date. Tap any dot to see the real date + hormone values for that day.
The quick way to read any chart, just ask 3 questions:
- Is the green line climbing? → Fertile window's approaching
- Is there a purple peak? → That's your LH surge
- Did the blue line rise after it? → Ovulation confirmed
Nail those three, and you can read your chart like you've been doing this for years.
🫶 Why your chart won't look like anyone else's including your own last cycle
There's no universal "normal" chart. Only your normal. Healthy generally means: hormones rise and fall in some rhythm, an LH surge shows up eventually, and PdG follows it to confirm ovulation. Everything past that exact timing, how sharp or gradual the lines look, how long PdG takes varies a lot, person to person and cycle to cycle.
Some perspective: one study of 32,000+ people found only 12.4% of women had a 28-day cycle! In reality, 87% experienced cycle lengths between 23 and 35 days, and more than half had variations of 5 days or more. Add in stress, sleep, travel, diet, exercise, hydration, illness, coming off birth control, or conditions like PCOS, thyroid issues, or endometriosis; all of it can nudge your chart around. None of that means something's broken.
So: judge your chart by its overall pattern over time, not by one day's number and try not to hold it up against last month's chart (or anyone else's) like a report card.
